this is it. In high school you throw to wide open receivers. In college you throw to receivers that have a step on the defender. In the pros you throw to receivers that are covered. The SEC is as close to the Pros as you get. If you are waiting for somebody to be wide open you will not be throwing the ball. A QB has to be confident and consistent. Those two attributes seem to be lacking from both of our guys right now.

Well whatever the reasons, it is obvious LSUs QBs are not very good right now. It is also obvious that the coaches do not trust them much...

As LSU fans, we should be used to this by now.

This offense is close, we just need the last piece of that puzzle.

I feel like this has been true since the 2009 season besides last year. '09-'12 all had great defense, great running games, talented receivers, and no QB

I'm going to have to disagree a bit when it come to Jenning's "lack of pocket presence". If you watch the games you'll see that he's not afraid to stay in the pocket, or "climb" the pocket as the outside rushers close in (unlike Harris against AU). His biggest issue is like most inexperienced QBs he locks on to one primary receiver. If that guy isn't open, the play generally blows up. I imagine that (1) the coaches try to simplify things for both young QBs and give them only 1 or 2 reads to look at on a given play, and (2) He doesn't have the experience to trust himself to come off of his initial read and/or to let the ball go when he sees the guy is open. He wouldn't be the first young QB that has happened to.

A primary example was the wheel route to LF against UK that he threw away while Quinn and Dural looked to break open across the middle of the field. I would bet anything that that play was called specifically for LF, and that the coaches told Jennings to throw it away if it wasn't there. However, to me the UK was encouraging. Go back and watch some of the video. He hangs and maneuvers in he pocket pretty well. My biggest issue is that seemingly every pass route for LSU is deep and outside the hashes. Those are tough passes to consistently complete

It would help if he trusted his qbs to run the offense.

In SEC play our QBs are hitting 43% of their passes with 4 TDs, 2 ints, and a passing eff. rating of bout 115.

Cam/Miles will probably trust our QBs more when those QBs show they are worthy of more trust. Just as they did with Mett last yr. imo

Only group that really has improved is the OL.

QB play is the same, which is below average. WR play is the same.. Finally using the right personnel at the RB spot with LF and Magee as the top 2 RBs.

The OL has def improved, but that's really it.

Like JJ for most of his career. Could be the issue since he's not throwing to guys who are open. However, some of them are so open, it's also understandable to think he's just not seeing them. Frustrating either way and you have to assume the coaches are trying to address it. Even missed his favorite receiver on an open post in the end zone last week. Chose a more difficult throw into coverage on the short side of the field; incomplete.

Jennings is the problem. If he keeps playing, we will lose to ole miss and alabama easily

An intercepted third down bomb is basically equivalent to a punt.
This is the one that gets me. If it's 3rd and long between the 40s, sling the rock downfield! Worst case scenario (i.e., INT) it's equivalent to a short/medium punt. Take a chance on those plays - there's a lot to gain and nothing to lose.

There is plenty to lose if u coach like Miles. Miles preaches every drive ends with a kick. 7 step drops on 3rd and long, dont always turn out as a decent punt. Its not his philosophy.

Dead on. Jennings locks in on the primary. He's a coach's clinic. He will get better and and when he does, he will be a good QB.
Good read, bro.
Another example would be on the goal line against Ky. TE is heading to back of end zone first and is wide open, Neighbors, a FB, fakes a lead block and slips out to the flat open as well. Great play call. Jennings never saw the TE, even the LB reacted toward the TE, even with Jennings staring down Neighbors.
Its a comical play, check out #45 who was trying to cover both of them.
