LSU is an underdog by 5 to #1 Alabama at LSU
If we're the underdog Nov 1 I will be sick. And if Miles goes 1-4 in those games his arse should be gone

Well, he's already done that. Let's hope he can do it again, but this time in the right direction.
For all your talk about how everyone defends Miles for the 2008 season, I don't remember many that weren't concerned going into the season after losing our DC and QB. As far as being on his arse about having replacements set up, it's hard to recruit an elite QB who wants to sit behind three future NFL QBs..
As far as the DC goes, I also don't remember many who felt Malleveto was a bad idea at the start of the season... it would keep the existing scheme in place. Hindsight is 20/20 of course and it was a horrible decision in practice, but it looked like a good option at the time. IN either case, there was bound to be a drop-off from a coaching standpoint, not to mention from a talent standpoint. The losses on defense from that 2007 team were huge.

Well let's see. Russell left early, Flynn was a senior, and Perrilloux was a sophmore. Does that really make it impossible to sign an elite QB? Miles should have made it a priorty to find an elite QB because he knew Perrilloux had character issues.

2008 was just a big cluster frick (much like 2009 offensively). We lost majority of our defense from 07, and Miles makes the decision to go with 2 coordinators who were clearly not qualified. And to top it off, our freshman QB couldn't stop throwing pick 6s.

Welcome to Tigerdroppings.com, as you are obviously a new member. Having been around at that time, I remember quite a bit of concern about it.

No, it looked like a shitty option at the time. Co-coordinators trying to imitate the guy who left is not a good idea at any time. When we lost Pelini, Miles' job was to find a good solid replacement DC. He was too lazy or too incompetent to do that, and we wound up with Malveto. In a year when we knew we had a young QB and absolutely could not afford to frick up the defense, Miles decided to experiment with a stupid co-coordinator idea.

The dropoff in talent is no excuse. That's what recruiting is for. The dropoff in coaching was not inevitable (unless you're saying Pelini is the best defensive coach in the world), but even if some dropoff was inevitable, any competent head coach could have had less of one by simply hiring an actual DC to replace Pelini.

Yes. With a roster full of talent, it's hard to recruit. That's why elite coaches who can do it get paid $4 million a year. Dumbfricks who can't, don't...unless they work for LSU, apparently.

What does concern in the preseason have to do with defending Miles for the inexcusable collapse he caused?

gambling man says take the over. but it is so foggy with the unknown at QB.
We have two different QBs who have started most or all of a full season for us. How could they possibly still be "unknown"?
quote:
our D showed that they would be a typical tenn defense (lose to fla, etc. bend, bend and break on occasion)
They broke on almost every occasion in the fourth quarter when we needed stops in close games.

if we run more consistently, which I believe we will and our D-line plays better we will be better than 7-5
If we score 100 points in each game and don't allow our opponents to score, we'll be undefeated. So the frick what?

Correct me if i'm wrong Nuts (and im not) but weren't you saying that Miles was the best coach in the SEC after the '07 season?...the same time frame you're now bashing him for? ....and you wonder why everyone thinks you're an f'n loon.

Anybody whose opinion of Les Miles hasn't changed in the last two years is the loon.

You talking about Southern Cal?
Who in 06 thought that we had three future NFL quarterbacks on the roster? Many fans never believed Flynn would make an NFL roster until after he beat out Brohm.
What is the excuse for last recruiting season? We signed only one quarterback and there is a good possibility he will sign to play baseball. Surely Lee and JJ aren't scaring away recruits.

So, in your opinion, he went from the best coach in the SEC to one of the worst coaches in the country....in two years. Theres no middle ground...no gray area...no other reasoning....thats it. Sounds reasonable.

It would make sense if u were because u r a mentally challenged fricker for sure.

Vegas odds makers don't get paid to loose money, and they are not always going to get it right either. It will be interesting to see how the lines move after the season starts. I figured us at a 8 win regular season at best and if that or worse happens I would be surprised to see LM go another season.
IMO, if talent and game time performance is equal and it comes down to coaching decisions and game management, we are at a disadvantage to the majority of coaches in the SEC.

Books are kept to keep everything even so the "bookie" can skim the juice. They don't lose money unless they keep bad books.... or gamble themselves.
