So, beckham will break every LSU and a lot of sec receiving records like reed did?

I like the nickname ODB better...

Good question.
OBJ seems faster. He has great hands. But if the offense doesn't open up more in the future I say False.

why do people in our fanbase want to fastforward this dudes career and start comparing him to arguably the best wideout in LSU history.

I'll say false. ODB will never even approach the 1700+ yards and doesn't run like him. Josh wasn;t a speed receiver. he gained most of his yards by catching bubble screens and then turning into a running back. Beckham doesn't seem to play like that. Beckham is a speedy guy, reed wasn't. Reed was also 5'11" 205. Beckham won't ever be that big IMO.

I agree! Hence the post title.

That's a fair comparison
But until he does what reed did, you gotta say false
Reed was truly elite for 2 seasons, just unstoppable
Thats why I said future. He is obviously not as good as Josh Reed LOL. And I dont really "gotta" say false if he has potential to be like reed. If I said ODB = future John Corbello then yeah thats a false. But from what we have seen so far I think he could have a similar career and NFL career.

It's just silliness
I think Jarvis Landry will be better than beckham. It's not a slight, I think he's better an will have a better career.

Actually he not only reminds me of Reed, but he runs like Tommy Casanova when he was playing tailback - juking and slashing.

What is Beckham's middle initial?
ODell Beckham and its a play on former WuTang member Ole Dirty.

most of this will depend on the offense we run and most importantly the QB. If Mett is as good and prolific as Rohan, look out.

He simply has great hands and a very similar build. Its not like I read this comparison in the Nostradamus Quatrains. Just a simple question that needed a simple answer. True or False.

I agree. I think Jarvis Landry will be a Early Doucet type receiver with his strength (he's already 190 now), and ODB will be a slot receiver that's a home run threat in the mold of Shepard with better hands. I think in the future you'll have Wright and Landry on the outside with Beckham playing the slot.

I'm gonna say False just based on what's already been stated about our offensive philosophy and the fact that Reed was just so amazing and if may be awhile before anyone puts up those kind of stats. Hands down my favorite Tiger of all time!

Reed was much bigger than Beckham. Reed played at 205, which makes sense because he came to LSU as a running back. Beckham weighs about 180, and he has no need to add on the bulk that Reed had. They're the same height and are elusive, but that's about where the comparison ends IMO. Reed broke a lot of tackles with his strength, and I don't see Beckham being that guy. Reed made prob half his catches (or so it seemed) on bubble screens, and then turned into a running back.
