Obviously the d was better than the O, no one is debating that. Most of us expected the d to carry the team. Overall they were good. With 3 AA's though, I'd say they were a little underwhelming at times for sure.

Those times almost always coincided with the offense doing nothing for quarters at a time

Just curious, do you feel the defense was elite objectively?
Yes. LSU's defense was among the best in the nation. 3 all-americans backs up that claim. Is the defense free from blame? Hell no. They could have done things better in the Florida and aTm game. You can't blame the L solely on the defense in either game though.
Just like stats on offense don't tell the whole story, stats on defense are the same. How many yards were given up/points scored later in games as a result of a worn out defense? It is absolute fact that almost every single game LSU jumped out ahead in, the offense went into a shell. That led to plenty of quick possessions, and the defense getting right back on the field.
Of course that did stop the retards from saying, "LSU jumped ahead in the first half and the defense couldn't hold the lead."
That's why you don't see me pointing to stats often, unless idiots start manipulating numbers like you are seeing here.

Can someone start a thread showing just our scoring drives this season? Obviously you'd have to leave out the bama game in that case too lol
I bet those stats would really look like we kicked arse!

The end of the A$M game?

And you are basing this on what?
Their ranking
Not that they both are 9-3 and Kentucky thrashed Florida Head to Head? Or that Kentucky has a statistically better defense by a large margin?

I'm not sure why you're hung up on elite. Well, i do know why you are.
I'm hung up on the elite part, because Greedy made a comment that he obviously thinks they were an elite defense this year. I have said numerous times that both sides of the ball need improvement. I don't get how people can claim to be objective, yet try to blame every defensive struggle on the offense.
I was not overly impressed with the offense this year and I would love to see us completely open it up, but I would also like to see a defense that everyone fears. 2011 was different, I think that was an offense issue, this year I saw both sides struggle at times.
I think before you make a comment like Greedy made you need to make sure you aren't living in a glass house.

Skewed? I removed the clear #1 from all schedules.
You removed a 0 from LSU and MSU while removing 31 for Arkansas, 23 for Texas AM and 21 from Auburn.
In what world does this make your argument objective? It was done to skew things in LSU's favor.

Greedy was elite.
I think Chaisson would have helped make the defense elite this year. That and another S&C coach.

Yes guy, the lsu offense scored the go ahead td in the fourth quarter. Defense could hold. Fact.
Did the defense score the tying TD or not?
Go look at the stats at all those 3 and outs.
So the defense is down the last game of the season:
Fohoko
Fulton
Should I continue?
5 starters you moron. Lack of depth? Yep. Last game of the season? Yep. Played their nuts off to he point to score the tying TD late in the game? Yep.
Carried this offense all season? Yep
fricking idiots like you using 1 drive with a shite load of questionable calls NEVER SEEN BEFORE ie the fumbled snap and a QB hand on the ball equalls “control”. And the clock not starting on the refs whistle with 3 seconds left that should have ended the game, as a reason to blame the defense.
a-hole

LSU took a fourth quarter lead against a&m, with the offense scoring the go ahead td late. LSU won top that game as well.
Manipulating numbers? If you call using all 8 conference games manipulating numbers, I'm guilty as charged.

Your OP didn't even use all 6 West games.

I agree that LSU got hosed that game against a&m.
You sir have some serious issues that go way beyond lsu football. Wow.

Just because you are installing a new offense isn't an excuse. All these teams changed to a completely new offense in one year and most seen offensive production increase
