I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised by the success this year. This team has blown expectations out of the water. Recruiting is going well. The defense is nasty.

Yes. Praise must be heaped on the head coach for bringing in talent and getting them motivated and prepared to play.

The problem I see is that the offense has not been adjusted to the deficiencies and injuries on the O line. That is on the OC. He should be replaced at the end of this year, or worst case, end of next year.

Orgeron and Aranda are killing it. Ensminger is not, and it is due to lack of adjustment. Exhibit A: 3rd down on LSU 5yd line, a slow developing PA pass vs Bama when the O line was struggling mightily. The result was Burrow getting crushed by La native Dylan Moses on the 3 inch line. There's no way that play should have even been considered.

We should keep O and Aranda... and replace the OC.

I agree, I was against the O hire but i can admit he has done a great job.

His only bad move so far has been E

Have we gotten to the point where you can’t even post in this board without being attacked.

Well E's performance is ultimately a reflection of O. So O's performance takes a hit and will continue to if he doesn't fix the offense.

Freaking right tackle didn't lay a hand on Moses, nor block anyone else on that play. A Quick pass play probably wouldn't of worked either if the OT isn't going to slow down the edge rusher.

So from reading the Rant, the OC, OLine coach and strength coach all need to go? I think we just need to fix the O line by getting healthy and stronger and add more o line recruits.

If you're all for the same post over and over again, then have at it.

But, since the Alabama game ended, all this board has seen an endless number of "E's a great guy but not a great OC and needs to get out of Baton Rouge but won't unless he retires"

I agree with you but if O doesn't get rid of E, then O becomes a bigger problem than E.

I see it as more than that because I believe they are making adjustments for what they perceive as deficiencies. The real problem to me is that opposing teams have plenty of game film on us now and can adjust to our play calling and, know what play we are running and how to expose the weaknesses in our o-line. We have not been able to "fool" anyone and that falls squarely on the o coordinators shoulders. I like E, but he needs a more progressive way of looking at things and some co-offensive mind could really help.

In other words, the most important indicator of his long-term viability as LSU's head coach.

“ O is doing a great job. E isn’t”

Isn’t coach O responsible for the hiring of Coach E? As such, doesn’t the job coach E has done reflect directly on the job coach O has done?

It appears, once again, LSU is having a good year despite our offensive troubles. The names have changed but the storyline is much the same.

Regardless if SE is here next year or not, I believe help is on the way. Both in recruiting and offensive staff.

So you’re blaming the OC for something that the head coach forced him to do. Coach O should get just as much blame. It is his team and his offense he says. You cannot just point blame at Coach E and praise coach O. Last time I checked, all decisions go through the head coach

I would argue that recruiting is the most important indicator.

But yes. He has failed in a very important hire.

Precisely.

There are two problems as I see it. We can't block very well, and our opponents pretty much know what's coming.

The latter is the root problem. When the latter is present, the former issue is exacerbated. Fix the scheme, create some uncertainty and you can take advantage of the opponent's aggressiveness.

It's certainly important. But we've had great recruiting for the better part of the last 20 years. O being a good to great recruiter is something that pretty much anyone can accept at this point and which most have acknowledged since the beginning. The biggest question at least from my vantage point has always been whether or not he can go out and get the best OC money can buy who can fit into and execute his offensive vision for the program, whatever it is, and whether he can let said OC do his job.

I agree

O is doing what we wanted. He’s letting E run the offense. He’s making the big decision calls (going for it on 4th, TO, etc...) and relatively speaking he’s doing that well.

He’s also recruiting at the level we had hoped he would when he was hired.

He has won big games UGA and the traps games like Miss St. he has won on the road in the SEC (Auburn) and started fast against Miami.

At this point what’s keeping up backnis a completely disfunctional offense.

O doesn’t run an offense, but ultimately
He has to find someone who has. And Canada and Ensminger have been some major misses so far.
