What pisses me off is how easily people on here are duped by a few trash posters.

Ed gave a press conference today on status of the team. Here is the timeline of the subject of QB.

Ed was asked in the postgame why Nuss did not play. He said his family did not want his RS burned unless he was going in for the long haul - not just spot play. This was discussed as late as Thursday of last week.

So today in his press conf he essentially announced that the QB job is open and that both QBs will play this weekend.

He was then asked what changed with Nuss. That is when he said Garrett came and talked to him Sunday and his dad called Peetz to rescind the request to preserve the RS if Garrett has a meaningful opportunity to play.

I asked this in another thread. Do these idiots think that SW does not have involvement here as Ed is lame duck? He would have been livid if Ed put GN in that game.

I wonder what Woodward thinks about all this shite. He has to know that O is just running this ship right into the rocks before he exits.

The issue I have with this is that he's making it all public. Sometimes it's best to not see how the sausage is made.

Is it weird that I believe and understand all of it. It makes sense on both sides. Nussmeier and his family recently spoke with Coach O about saving his redshirt. They probably wanted him to get a lot of reps in a game like ULM instead of what everyone thought was going to be a blowout against Bama. Orgeron agreed to that and that’s why he didn’t put him in against Bama. Garrett and family probably realized we could have won that game if he plays. They also probably realize that everyone can see Max isn’t that great and Nuss has a chance to get significant playing time these last 3 games. They call O and say they don’t care about the RS anymore.

This is exactly what happened and sad people on this website can't figure this out.

It would be absolutely asinine for Nuss and/or his family to have ever wanted a redshirt in any way, shape, or form.

We can argue about whether it makes sense to redshirt him from the coaches’ perspective. But I don’t know why you would think it’s asinine for Nuss/family to want to keep his redshirt.

Kids want to keep as much eligibility as possible. It gives them options. If he becomes a starter in year 3 he would rather be a RS soph with 3 years eligibility than a junior with 2 years. Maybe he goes pro in a year or two after getting a shot, maybe he doesn’t - but he’s going to want the option for as much time to shine as he can get. Same thing applies if he winds up transferring down the road instead of becoming the starter.

Now, I don’t buy that he would rather keep the redshirt than take over as starter. But I 100% buy that he would rather keep the redshirt than burn it in garbage time.

No idea if thats at all what’s truly going on in this scenario, just saying it’s not “asinine” to want to save the redshirt.
