You all seem to be doubting Les Miles ability to carry his team.

Les can inspire his team. He can't carry a damn thing. He doesn't play.

I don't think that Lee is a POS--as a person or a player.
I apologize if my post indicated that you thought that he was. That was not my intent.

I didn't really think you were directing that at me, I just wanted to be clear. No worries.

I certainly have no clue what you are trying to say here. Are you a historically anti Lee/Pro JJ guy?

None of us have a clue what is happening, what will happen or what should happen. Lets just enjoy the ride that starts in a week.

our whole offensive scheme for this year, was designed around Jefferson's ability to haul arse

Not so sure about this....Kragthorpe has opened this offense up-and who knows-Lee may finally be ready-he played well in some tough spots last year. Anyway, Im not ready to jump off the bridge yet-I mean we weren't counting on JJ to do a whole lot-we gonna run the ball with those badass backs and play lights out defense-who says we can't win 10-11 games and be in title hunt now just because JJ is gone? This team is talented EVERYWHERE....

Well, you can choose to drown in the sorrows of what happened, or you can join in and move forward.

Because no matter how sad of a day this may/may not be, this team has a game to play a week from tomorrow.

And let's get something straight: Oregon- like the Honey Badger- don't give a shite.

Out team will be focused on those facts. So should we.

the fight was an unintended consequence of breaking team rules.

the team rules appear to be 'better' than the team would have thought, two weeks ago.

its a terrible black eye for the school and for Miles.

If the team loses to Oregon, it will give life to a new level of crap we have to read about and hear about. I think everyone associated with LSU hopes the O-line gives JL time and he rips Oregon a new one.

If not, we will hear about this fight for the rest of the season and probably a year or two more.

I don't think anyone would be excited if we lost Lee. Losing Jefferson is at least as bad as losing Lee would have been.

LSU QBs haven't made it through an entire season in years.

Let's hope that Lee plays well and stays healthy.

LSU will need two QB's regardless of who the two are. It's my guess that JJ will not miss the whole season though, and will be back by week 3 or 4.

What I wrote is perfectly clear to any native english speaker/reader. Don't overthink this.

And in the interest of full disclosure, yes, I thought JJ was the better of the two experienced options. People far more qualified than you or I made the same determination.

But I'm not anti-Lee. I was anti the backup starting because a few nerds on a website thought he was entitled to his "chance". That ship has sailed. I believe he has potential and hope that it is realized this season.

And I'll enjoy the ride once I see that this season wasn't torpedoed by an historic (potentially) shitstorm of an offseason.

I might have gone with:

Don't call me "son". I'm a lawyer and an officer in the United States Navy. And you're under arrest, you son of a bitch. The witness is excused.

Saw that a couple of weeks ago. One of my all time favorites.

A week from Saturday we will know how much this team was impacted by the parking lot fight. There will be an impact. I hope we are all celebrating the emergence of JL and not calling for the coach's head. My guess is that knowing JJ's fate for the first game puts an end to the uncertainity and allows the team to re-focus and rally. There is over a week to prepare- that is the normal SEC prep time.

This situation doesn't help shite. Now that the congratulatory circle-jerk is over, it's time to face the reality that this is a sad day for the Tigers. The team can/may pull together and have a phenomenal season (as I hope they do), but that will be in spite of this fall's events, not because of them. JJ and Shep were very popular with the team (don't know anything about JJ2), and the team did not receive their suspensions with with the same thinly-veiled elation that some of our fans put on display earlier.

We're now down to one experienced QB who may well surprise, but hasn't been able to take the top spot in three years.

An offensive plan that was likely built around a certain type of quarterback (or combination of QBs) will have to be re-worked in fairly short order.

God help us if Mett gets into anything this season; let's not act as though that's out of the question.

This was likely a body-blow to many players on the team, as well as the CLM.

There's nothing to celebrate. I'll be pulling for Jarrett as hard as anyone, but him getting "the start" will not make up for what we've lost in the process.

ETA: Shep obviously wasn't arrested and won't be gone for the season.

While I agree with most of what you have to say here, I don't see the point in beating ourselves up about it. It is now our reality and one that doesn't call for driving the bus off the cliff.

Try to enjoy this team---its what we've got.

Bayou.....it's not just JJ, it is the whole vibe surrounding the team. We are on probation already...then willie lyles....kragthorpe.....russell sheppard.....now jj. Not to mention that a guy pulled a gun on Mett and another player a few weeks ago at 2:30 in the morning. Doesn't sound like Les has control of this team and doesn't look like the team is focused.
