As was said...the team is more than any one player.

It's actually currently three players on suspension, two facing serious criminal charges, and two more under investigation.

And I hope the boys do keep their focus and come together. And I hope CLM, Jarrett, and other student leaders are able to motivate them to do what we set out to do this year.

But it's going to take more than tweets and soundbites to convince me that this hasn't had a negative impact on this team. Just using common sense.

Next Saturday, I'll be fine but right now, I'm bummed. Hope the team rises above all this crap.

Based on EVERYTHING that has happened in the last month.....I think 8-4 is very likely and 6-6 is a possibility.

We're 1 week away. We've gone through a miserable basketball season, and a baseball season that started out on top of the world and ended up lower than whale shite. It's been a long off season. We've had a few things here and there, but right at the end, there was this clusterfrick that just happened. Now, it's over with.

It's time to focus on football which, again, is 1 week away.

I refuse to be anything other than optimistic right now. I'll deal with the reality if it comes, but for right now, I'm not buying into the ultra pesimistic viewpoint. It's been too long an offseason.

Hulk...a month ago I thought 10-2 was a worst case scenario but things have changed. We could possibly be 1-3 to start the season . We have more talent than anyone we play, but talent alone does not win games. If things don't go well in the first half of the season this team could imnplode.

Amen. Tomorrow's another day. But, as I said, I've never been more bummed 1 week out. And nothing's over. Even if Less dismisses both charged players from the team tomorrow, their troubles will be followed closely by the team and most of us here.

We have a quarterback with experience and tons of playmakers on the field, with a (surely?) better offensive scheme.

I don't see this situation as a significant setback going into the season. It will only be a setback if the guys let it be. Sounds like Taylor and the others aren't going to let that happen. Who knows? Maybe this will be a motivating factor for the team?

As I said, one can hope. But organizations don't typically perform better after a series of crises and distractions. Were that the case, why wouldn't every team work toward probation, 2-4 high profile arrests, 1 additional compliance related suspension, and a media circus every year.

Oh, and a belated revelation that its previously troubled JUCO recruit had a gun pulled on him months earlier.

I think our chances are just as good as ever. I can't believe you guys think losing a JJ is gonna drop us from 10-12 wins to 6. Are we talking the same JJ? The one who split time with JL? This TEAM is better at every position than that! Heck, Arkansas beat us with tha Dick brothers! Good grief.

My money is on 11-1 and in the NC Game. This team is loaded!

I can tell you when the crap is going to hit the fan...and it will be on third and nine when they bring the whole defense in a blitz on Lee. I can guarantee you that that our whole offensive scheme for this year, was designed around Jefferson's ability to haul arse out of that pocket; kept them defenders honest. Now...God knows.

This aint good, and Lee and Mett may cut them to shreds...but we all know that in today's big ball...you gotta have a qb who can take off.

Good luck to the Tigers. They didn't deserve this crap; I hope they can make lemonade out of lemons.

You may be right but how many programs really have that guy who can run like that? I don't think Matt Mauck or Flynn had JJ's escapability. It's gonna be a big season!

Lee is not a piece of shite. He has skills. He has tools. He's a fifth year senior. He seems adept at quick passes. If the line can give the QB time this year, Lee has the arm to make a defense pay. The rest of the team should be good enough to help even a fairly mediocre QB win the game.

But you're right that losing an experienced QB hurts.

I don't think anyone would be excited if we lost Lee. Losing Jefferson is at least as bad as losing Lee would have been.

LSU QBs haven't made it through an entire season in years.

Let's hope that Lee plays well and stays healthy.

I don't think that Lee is a POS--as a person or a player.

Agree with the rest of your post, especially the last bit.

You all seem to be doubting Les Miles ability to carry his team.
