Now that it appears that Stud is going back to O-Line coach only...

What is your opinion of him as an O-line coach when he only has that as his responsibility? Good, bad, indifferent.

He seems ok. I've heard stories of former players saying he should stick to OL coaching because he's good at it, not OC.

Just seems like that as OL/OC it takes away from concentrating on details of the O-line development and in game adjustments to the line. Also, I think the line is better off with the O-line coach on the sideline. Just my opinion and I am not nor have I ever been a coach. So maybe I'm wrong.

This. We really could have used him down there last season with all the injuries and youth on the line.

Could not agree more.

I heard T-Bob on Mascona get all riled up on Friday about a caller saying Stud isn't a good Oline coach.
Take it for what it's worth, but at least he is a former player.

Someone made a good point that LSU didn't bring as good of OL as they have in the last two classes. In the past, they needed to convert DL to OL or the OL were very undersized like. I would like to see how well Stud does with better talent in the cupboard.

quote:Exactly. It's possible to do, but I imagine the OC duties takes up most of the time. I'm glad that LSU can go back to normal again. With their budget, there's no reason to run lean on staff and double up their duties.

So he hires a new OC and then tells him who his assistants are?

No, the assistants were already in place, then he hired a new OC. CC was obviously okay with it.

So how many did Nussmeier bring in when he was hired??

He is not that good of a ol coach either!

Guy is not that great of an oline coach...WAS NEVER IMPRESSED WITH HIM BEFORE his stint as OC. He should have left with malleveto.

i think (and hope) that him going back will free up time needed to concentrate solely on the development of our OL. we have lost 2 starters and have 2 2nd yr guys so we will, once again be young. we have to pass block better and we need stud to step up and instruct the techniques better. blocking schemes take a while to learn so expect some inconsistency on our OL again this year, esp. earlly.

if you think nick saban let's his coordinators select their assistants you don't know saban. saban controls everything about "his" program; everything.

When I coached in HS, I had a Dad confront me saying "I was never impressed by your coaching...Coach X should have hired better"...
My first thought was "frick you"....secondly "indeed, my sole purpose in my career is to impress you"
I simply said "Mr. so-and-so, I'm sorry you feel that way"...
He has visions that his son was a sure-fire D1 prospect.....despite being a kid who was shy away from contact when the going got tough...
The moral of the story is I'm sure Greg Studrawa gives 2 shits if he has impressed you or not.
You have an inflated sense of worth.

I think he's a good OL coach. maybe not the best, but with the exception of 09, we've had good OL play under Stud IMO. the midseason retooling of last yr's group was damn near a miracle.

Kragthorpe was diagnosed with Parkinson's right before the start of fall camp. What the frick did you want Miles to do at that point? I'm sure at the time it was discussed as a temporary thing, but the team then proceeded to go 13-1 and played for the national championship. I can't really blame him for keeping it going another year since we all thought Mett would fix the QB woes.
