Nothing has changed. The portal has just made it easier to see what has always been..

Kids who weren't either talented enough, durable enough, smart enough, or character enough to play big time football. Before the portal these guys would be stuck in the depth chart and either fail out, quit or get the boot. Now we knash our collective teeth iver losing a guy who has never played or cracked the 3 deep. Now yes there are some that sting a bit but every team has them. It's really the same just calling it different name. The sad part is that the portal situation gives some.of these kids false hope and preys on their and their family's I'll guided advice that the reason they aren't playing is they are being screwed over and not because of the above aforementioned reasons. So u get situations like TJfinley or walker Howard who are on transfer#s 3 and 2. Maybe just maybe it ain't the coaches or the schools....maybe it's you.

Unlimited imediate eligibility is the difference in the last few years.

And just the opposite also. 2&3 star kids who didn’t get big offers out of high school but flourished with good college coaching get to go play big time ball against better competition.
