I was pulling for Mathis big time as LSU had no one else and there were many in-game sequences when he could not catch pitches a catcher should handle, and I mean baffling sequences of dropped or passed balls. So it wasn't all on pitchers slow deliveries.

I didnt say he didnt struggle with passed balls or dropped balls. But he and garza both couldnt throw base stealers out, and considering their pop times, its easy to see it wasnt on them. For some reason, over the last 2 years, dunns staff has not had an emphasis on holding runners, slide steps, changes to the timing of going to the plate, or leg kicks. Some of it is havjng more pitchers with high leg kicks with high velocity, but its not all of it.
