Our next head coach needs to be a proven head coach. No risky hire hoping to find the "next hot head coach." Pull out the check book and go get a proven, elite head coach.

How many times at he many schools for how many years does it have to happen before you tards realize it doesn't work like this? All "proven, elite head coaches" already have jobs that pay handsomely. You don't just "pull out the checkbook" and go get whoever you want. I mean, frick.

Orgeron is a big fan of the 3-4 defense, so that should at least ease things.

Pretty sure I've read that O had never coached a 3-4 before Aranda brought it.

Relax, BeeFense. You and I both know that LSU has a lot of resources that most other schools don't have. And we sit smack dab in the middle of a recruiting hotbed, with no other legit D-I team in the state to compete with us.

LSU should be able to lure an elite coach. I'm not talking about flipping Saban or Meyer, but nearly everyone else should be on our list.

I like it. Aranda is all football and he he will probably still call the defensive plays on game day. Applewhite will be creative enough to move the chains; problem is how long will he stay before the likes of a Sun belt or CUSA job come calling? And proven head coaches isn't the surest path for success. Herman wasn't, Fisher wasn't, etc. look at proven coaches who stepped up and struggle: Rich Rod, Butch Jones, etc

Yaw Yaw - DC
Thoughout Coach O's long and storied career, i don't think he's been a DC anywhere. I don't think he wants to be a coordinator. I don't know why, but apparently, he doesn't.

Not saying I support this or I've heard this will happen. Just a scenario by Random LSU Hero

Just a scenario I would love better

LSU 11-1 regular season
SEC champions
2 wins in the BCS title series
14-1 overall record National Champs
Les coaching next year and could care "les" who the OC is

Just a thought for all you LSU fans out there

I don't get this at all. IF he wasn't already on the staff, people would lose their mind if he was hired as the HC. If he was the DL coach for Alabama people would be pissed that he was hired as the HC, so I don't see why that should change just because he is already at LSU.

big-time football programs (or any business) come with high expectations.

Fans aren't "insufferable and ungrateful" for wanting an elite product on the field, especially with our top 5 recruiting, phenomenal resources, support, and millions upon millions of dollars paid to our coaching staff.

If a coach doesn't want the pressure at an elite football school like LSU, there are literally hundreds of other colleges with far less lofty expectations.

If Miles goes, which seems likely after this year , this is a realistic scenario. Every time you change a head coach it is risky. No guarantees that other HC's are going to be able to win like the base expects. Take a look around, Houston hired a OC with now 1 and 1/4 years under his belt and Herman is the hot coach, Georgia hired Kirby, Freeze and Mazahn had minimal experience at AR State. Aranda would be worth the chance. The question mark is whether or not Yaw Yaw can call a defensive game.
