I saw the game, did you? It was far from a "shredding"...penalties, to's, and a couple of lucky bounces changed the game...

Read my post...what does lucky bounces and penalties have to do with Russell Wilson vs. the UNC pass defense?

In 2007, Virginia Tech was returning a stellar defense too and we shredded them.

I'm not saying we're going to do the same thing but I am suspect of ACC teams and their statistical rankings. And I readily acknowledge that there are some talented players on their defense.

At the same time, we must acknowledge that our offense was woeful. Unless our line play and QB play improve significantly, it won't matter what defense we play.

We have the athletes to hang 40 on them and we have proven to be capable of ineptitude that they could hold us to under 10 points.

It will be an interesting first game.

Let's say Tigers 28, Heels 13.

I hope JJ has 450 yards in the air and 7 touchdowns while our defense pitches a shutout

now you've done it. You hoped for something positive. There are posters here that will not let that slide. We all need to be miserable.

All of the hype is based off of Kyper. Look at his draft board from last year and compare it to what actually happened. If he wasn't on the 4 letter network, who basically dominates coverage, we would think he was a bad Elvis impersonator with a side job. They may have some talented players, but 3 1st rounders, is a bit rich. Have they had more that one player drafted in the first round ever? Lets wait till the end of the year to buy in to Kyper's crap. He draft board won't look anything like the filler material he is putting out now. You will also have the NFl with an uncapped year and a potential rookie cap, so who knows how that will work for underclassmen next year.

I would "settle" for 300 yards passing and 300 rushing, 48-7...oh wait that was the Virginia Tech game. One of the most fun LSU games I've ever watched. Oh and maybe Mike Ford could hurdle a defender on the way to a 67 yard touchdown.

Comparing our "D" to their "D" is stupid. When will our defense and their defense be on the field at the same time? How 'bout never!

The comparison is our offense against their defense.

LSU played 3 teams last year with comparable defensive stats to North Carolina. We lost all three games. Our offense has to make improvement this year, or we lose more than just 4 games, and we lose to NC.

2 things to remember:

Thing 1:
North Carolina will come into this game with a chip on their shoulder. This is a statement game for them and the ACC as a whole. They will undoubtedly bring their best effort.

Thing 2:
LSU is fast. On offense and defense, and playing on the Georgia Dome turf will only make them faster(unlike the mud in Orlando last year). In addition, LSU has played in that Georgia Dome more times than anyone except Ga. Tech. They are comfortable in that building.

If only it were that simple ... you also have to consider their offense against our defense. If our defense can create turnovers and/of shut down their offense, then the UNC defense will wear down, and I don't think they have much depth. I think LSU gets it's run game going and dominates time of possession, rendering UNC "defenseless".

They don't. Which is why playing them early kind of sucks.

Did the season start and I missed it? When we beat NC...and we will beat NC...it will once again show that the ACC is simply not all that. Now, it won't necessarily mean that we are...I'm just sayin'.
