The Alabama defensive line had a average size from 280 to 300 lbs and the LSU offensive line averaged from 330 to 350 and yet were pushed into the backfield. Clearly Alabama linemen were much stronger. Why?

Better technique and leverage. More talented. They were just flat out better.

Compare the Star ratings of each person and you may find your answer.

They have a legitimate s&c coach while we have a legend living off his name. Make LSU strong again

The size deference isn't enough when your so predictable! LSU style offense might as well tell the defense what the plays are but we don't have to because everyone has seen it. It is simply out dated and ineffective!

I don't think it's predictability. You can be somewhat predictable and still hold your own or knock people back a little.

But this was and has been ridiculous. We either need a new SC program or to buy some deer antler spray (or whatever the bumps are using)...lol...

Don't need as much strength when you don't have to turn around and you can rush head on. We never made the Bama D-line turn around and chase us. Bad Offensive play calling. Did we try 1 sweep, WR miss direction, WR screen, Hop about an inside slant 5-yard quick pass? The few times Etling had an open guy he was running for his life.

When Kirby Smart was rumored to take Scott Cochran (Bama's Strength and conditioning coach) to UGA at the beginning of the year, Saban worked behind the scenes to get Cochran a salary bump.

He went from making normal money to 500k/ year.

Saban and the rest of the team know where part of their strength originates. Cochran is famous here in Alabama for his rigor and discipline with the young men. In this State he is as well known as other schools head coaches.

LSU should throw 1 million at him to come home. It would be well worth the million dollars

Stars don't really mean a lot. It's player development and coaching at this level. Lsu has a problem doing both right now. Poor technique, a bunch of guards playing out of position. The only real tackle is playing center. 6-7 330 vs 6-1 290 with proper technique the later win most of the time. Chunk in a mofit that may be getting stale at this point and you got what we got. Whooped!

This, and there is no shame in that either.

We played them as hard or harder then anyone will all year.

That team is a semi pro team. Eventually the talent gap at positions catches up.

at the down votes, do we really have people that don't realize our s&c program is a major problem? Moffit was at the top of the game for years, no shame in getting old. Its time to move on

Strength obviously helps a player, but all the rest of the pieces have to be there first. Technique, balance, leverage, quickness, instinct.

And they have to be coached properly, developed properly, and playing the right scheme for their abilities and playing in the right position.

Having strength may turn a lineman from a 7 to an 8, but it won't turn a 5 to an 8.

So I think it makes a marginal difference, but it's not the magic fix for our Oline.

Yes. And Moffit got on Facebook or twitter to criticize the possible hiring of Jimbo because rumor had it Jimbo was gonna bring his own S&C coach. Undermining his boss should have got him in trouble. I don't know if that influenced the outcome once it was out in the open or not.

Cochran makes 650k and considered best in business. He also gets paid more than NFL s&C coaches.

Two years ago it was reported that Moffit barely made it to the weight room to supervise.

If Jimbo comes to LSU either Moffit resigns or Fisher outright fires him, that's a fact.

So moffit is responsible for bad olinemen and play but doesn't get credit for our fast lights out defense or our punter booming punts...
