No need to overthink the basketball situation

-We don't have the horses this year to be markedly better than we are. Missing Manning has hurt us but this team is not underachieving in the win/loss column
-We have a coach who will have us in the tourney every year. I believe this may be the last 8-10 seed type team you see from Wade for the foreseeable future. It's up from here IMO.
-Wade will improve but I think he's already pretty dang good. To expect this man to completely transform a mediocre program in 3 years is unrealistic. I do think that this year is somewhat a result of all the clouds over the program with all the scandals floating around. It would appear we are past that and next year's class will be outstanding.
We aren't winning anything this year but it doesn't require a basketball savant to see that we are rapidly heading in a much better direction than we have in a very long time or ever.

Agree, people are overreacting.

normal people understand this. it's the low-IQ, mouth-breathing football fans who don't get it.

I didn’t see the Fla game but saw almost every other game and I don’t see much difference in our play now from our play earlier in the year.

They just aren’t good enough to hit consistently at this level. A shame because our pitching is phenomenal

Too add to the OP
Will Wade is still only 37 years old I believe (fact check that). Let the kid breathe a little and grow as a coach, but most on here don't get this.
In reality, doesn't matter what most on here think. Keep grinding CWW
I personally think this team could do some damage in the tournament A SWEET 16 run would be epic....got get off that 8-9 seed somehow!! either 6-7 or 10-11

100% agree WW has recruited well for next year

With the talent still rolling in...Wade is about to go HAM

Great post. Also people need to remember how much last year’s recruiting class was affected by all of the chaos(much of it artificially created by Alleva and our administration) at the end of last season and beyond. Wade has a top 6 class coming in for next season and we will be right back to the top of the league. Fans that question Will Wade don’t know shite about college basketball, one recruiting class means way more than in other sports where one and done isn’t allowed. The dude has brought the LSU basketball program back to relevance after a long time of being frankly terrible.

Anyone have a way-too-early depth chart for next year including new guys?

They should get it too considering even Saban was 8-5 in year 3.
Building a program from scratch takes time

LSU will be a 1 or 2 seed next year come at me.
Posted on 3/5/20 at 7:44 pm to LSUminati
Wade needs a raise and a significant extension PERIOD.
Posted on 3/5/20 at 7:48 pm to LSUminati
I don't think that's far-fetched at all. We comin'...and we ain't backin' down!

good post OP. Two things come to mind on why Wade has kind of been set back this year. And you touched on them but Charles Manning being hurt and the two big time recruits that were lost due to Wade's suspension.
The scary thing is IF they get Manning back for the tourney and play their best ball the rest of the way. This team has the talent to make the elite 8.

We don't have a point guard, you can't win without a PG

Back to back tournaments with the number 6 class coming in is all you could’ve realistically asked for honestly

I think it could be argued that a healthy Manning for the entire season would've been our second-best player. If you took a poll of who our second most important player is now, I suspect it would be fairly scattered between Watford, Days, Williams and Smart. The problem is, any of these guys can go for 20 and 10 or 3 and 2. Besides Mays, consistency is a real issue for these guys. I think Watford probably plays more consistently to his capabilities than the others night in-night out.

before the season started Wade basically said that Manning was our best scorer and defender. Think about that for a second.
