And we just don't have the funds to compete. We can complain about coaching, etc all day, but until we are a top 5 NIL destination, we will not be able to recruit at the level our brand allowed us to prior to NIL. It's just that simple. We don't have the economic resources to pay the best players at every position to come here. We can afford to pay for 3-5 studs per team. Other schools in the top 15 are paying every position.

We'll get the occasional 5 star Louisiana kid that just loves LSU. But BK's recruiting is limited in this new world to just how much money he can offer. It sucks to be poor, but it is what it is.

LSU pays as much or more than all but about 4 or 5 schools.

There’s been an intentional decision made to pay players who have proven they can produce at the college level, be that already on our roster or on someone else’s. We make competitive offers to high schoolers but dont pay them at the same level as veterans.

Can you explain why this is? Why can't LSU pay more. I thought it was outsiders who spend money on NIL, not the actual school?

So the loss to FSU was about NIL? FSU pays more than LSU? I doubt it...it was BK not upgrading the QB position

Louisiana is a poor state and LSU doesn’t have very wealthy alumni compared with Texas, A&M, Georgia, FSU. We’re poor and our alumni are poor…

We were outbid by FSU on some transfers. They’re paying. We’re being outbid by Auburn.

It is, but it's an organized effort that the university turns a blind eye to, but participates in at the same time. There's a misconception on this board that we are a top NIL destination, but on a Google search I can't find us in the top 15 anywhere - certainly not in NIL collective money, which is what it will take to pay every player a decent salary.

You think that stuff is available on Google?

It’s true we don’t have 1 or 2 people paying crazy money like Alabama does, or have 8 or 10 pooling a good chunk like A&M and Texas are. But we come up with money when we need it, O and staff’s $20 million buyout didn’t come from TAF it came from a collection plate.

FSU pays more than LSU. Currently they are 5/6 nationally in collective money. We aren't even on the radar.

Upgrading the QB position requires a minimum comittment of 1-2 million a year just for that position. Look up the top 10 NIL football athletes - more than half are QBs, and they average about 1.5 million annually each.

States like Alabama and Tennessee have to rely on federal funds to balance their budgets. Whatever jobs they have coming in is nothing but smoke and mirrors

Going off of your logic, the Tide and Vols should be struggling financially to make good NIL deals with legit recruits as well.

I'll add - collective money is what is needed to make sure we get a complete roster. Our second string guys need to be making 50k minimum a year. The collectives are basically a tip pool - it allows a chunk of money to be dedicated to a position group, not an individual. It will take an average of 50k a year for all 80 members of the roster, with no one left out, to be in the top 5 talent wise.

Paul Bryant Jr is doing basically everything for Alabama. What’s his face that owns the Browns and one other guy I forget who does basically everything for Tennessee.

Have you been to Knoxville, Nashville, or Birmingham? There's more money in one neighborhood in any of those towns, than there is in the whole city of BR. Tennessee is booming, and their fans are just as loyal as ours. I've seen rankings putting them overall 1st in the country in NIL collective money.

There's a lot of conflicting data out there, because there's so much under the table money being paid. But this is just an example of where Florida State is relative to us on collective money.

Yep you nailed it. Recruiting really isn't the coaches fault anymore. Anyone can build a team with half arse coaching and a fist full of money to hand out.
