I'm from LA, born and raised. I don't give a single frick whether the head coach of LSU is from LA or China.
I was born in Monroe and raised in Mandeville and I agree with you 100%.

Personally, I kinda like those HC's from West Virginia............

He had a 7-6 record his first year at Alabama

The same year O earned a 0-8 SEC record at Ole Miss..

This is Saban's total record. He had a 7-6 record his first year at Alabama.

Lets look at the respective records prior to his arrival

Pre saban Sparty 0-11 (4th straight non winning season)
1st season Sparty 6-5-1

Pre Saban LSU 3-8(2nd straight losing season)
1st season LSU 8-4

Pre Saban Bama 6-7
1st season Bama 7-6

Heck, even Miles improved his teams records in his first year.

Pre Miles Okie State 3-8
1st Miles season Okie State 4-7 (Miles only losing season as a head coach)

Pre Miles LSU 9-3
1st Miles season LSU 11-2

Conversely, let's look at O's record

In his 3 seasons at Ole Miss he never topped his predecessors worst record

Pre-O Ole Miss 4-7 (Cutliffe's only losing season and only the second losing season for Ole miss in 10 years)
O's first season 3-8
O's best season 4-8
O's Last season 3-9

Post-O Ole Miss 9-4

Let me conclude this by saying all that doesn't mean much going forward. Any more than this loss, on it's face, means anything about where the programs is next year or even the rest of this year. The histrionics after 1 loss, albeit a miserable loss, are ridiculous. There were people woefully about the hire of that idiot Saban after our loss to UAB at tiger stadium in his first year. Probably some consternation at Bama when he lost to ULM.

One game is really only meaningful in terms of a coaching career or program in hindsight. In the moment, it is only valuable as a tool to move forward and improve for the next game.

If you read this as a dismissal of coach O or an endorsement of Coach Saban or Coach Miles, let me assure you it is none of the above. Just an attempt to show why this type of data can be used in all sorts of ways and is generally useless.

Saban inherited a mess....

I wouldn't exactly call taking over a team whose HC was fired after only the fourth game a great situation, to be fair.
