I know it may be wishful thinking but what are the chances that Saban leaves for the NFL? If they win the NC this year, it will be 3 out of the last four years and his 4th overall. He will have already accomplished all he can in college. He is also not getting any younger. We know how competitive and driven he is and he wants to succeed at every thing he does. Being that his time in Miami was a failure, do you think he still has the desire to coach in the NFL? For instance, say that the job opens in Cleveland. Would he return to the state where he played football at Kent St and where he coached with the Browns?

Dont think it will ever happen. He will retire king of the world right there in Bama Land. Thought a few years ago , he was ready to make a move but dont see it happening now.

I say there's an even chance that Saban retires at Bama. He could probably demand an NFL salary and get it. And he has near total control of his program and kids he can keep in line.

Why trade that for a bunch of spoiled multi-millionaires, a potentially domineering team owner, and no guarantee of success.

Ambition has its limits. At some point, people recognize when they "have it made". He's in his 60s, so he's probably made it there.

Saban is full of crap as a NFL coach. After the way he left Miami, I do not think another NFL team is giving him a chance. Besides his wife hates to live in a big city.

$aban will win a NC every year till he retires.

This is full of fail on multiple fronts. He was 15-17, not good, but not horrible either. He wasn't fired and the Dolphins were mad he left. They would never re hire him, but the new owner of the Browns has already mentioned him.

I'd say the chances he returns are slim, but much better than none. He has little left to prove in CFB. He's at a point where anything short of a NC will be viewed as failure. His NFL record is the one black mark on his resume. The NFL can also offer him something even Alabama can't. Equity. They could maybe match any offer up to $8-10M / year, but they can't offer a piece of the team and that could be extremely enticing. Take 8/year, go for 4-5 years, if it doesn't work out retire with an ownership stake. That's big, big money potentially. The Browns recently sold for $1B, just 1% is worth $10M. That's a lot and it could grow.

Especially now that his only competition just re-hired Elmer Fudd
