I just don't see why you and a few others in this thread are getting mad
quote:of course not. Saban sucked his last two years here. i personally felt he got his trophy and coasted until he got his promotion to the NFL.
Is it only okay to be critical of miles and not saban? Serious question.
don't mistake this debate for a screaming match.

It would be one thing if Saban was retired, and he mentioned how much he loved coaching at LSU & living in Baton Rouge, or did like Dietzel and move back to BR, but to give him praise while he is still the coach of Bama is kind of crazy...

i did start this rant to say whe need to build saban a statue. i want that by no means. we should at least give the man respect for building LSU into what it is now. By the way miles won a national championship with saban players. what has he done so far with his own players nothing.

wrong, in case you didn't read my prior post. (and you obviously started the thread to flame as marked by your comment in bold.)
LSU provided as much to saban as saban did for lsu. Saban was part of the turn around. not THE PART. As Much or More recognition should go to emmert. He hired saban and provided the academic and finacial support for saban/lsu to succeed.
Saban was thought of as a good coach, not elite, prior to coming to lsu. had he not been successful here, bama would not have wanted him.
Had emmert not provided the resources, he wouldn't have been. (dinardo didn't have the luxury of high paid assistants, academic support, recruiting budget, score boards, stadium improvements, tradition funds, updated practice and training facilities/staff. ect.)
he didn't make bama or lsu. he shouldn't be given all the credit for it either.
lsu turned around due to their finacial and academic commitment to develop the football program to be the best it could be. Saban was part of that finacial investment.
The reason lsu is successful post saban is this commitment/plan has been continued/followed.

Yes
Yes
and Yes
You can add Bryant, Terry Bowden, and Tommy Tuberville to that list off the top of my head.

quote:LSU seemed to provide a nice stepstool. Why do some feel we should pay hommage when he got what he wanted? We have 3 NC winners and you want to bow to the one who defected to the enemy. Get your tail from between your legs.
i think this is pretty awesome! what has LSU done for Nick Saban

Don't be such a punk. Again, Saban was part of what has been part of the story but teabaggers like you try to make him THE story.
A statue of him is just dumb

+1
I don't like saban bc he is a rival that provides steady competition. Same reason I don't like Meyer. I don't like cheezit bc he is blindly viewed as a great head coach as he rode the coat tail of a Cam. I'm thankful for what saban did but he is a rival now, like it or not.
