Saban does have something to do with the football teams success...all the way up until he left. If you want to blame miles for all that goes wrong when he is the coach, then he gets the credit for all the success he has has at lsu too. It has to work both ways.

we were successful way before Saban got here...FWIW

I'd love to see your definition of successful. A bunch of 5 to 8 win seasons with a couple 10 wins here and there. WOW...total domination.

yippeee....name the frickin' stadium after him.

Nobody said name the stadium after him. And nobody cock gobbling either. You refuse to give Saban any credit because he left LSU. You probably think it was his intentions to go to Alabama the day he left LSU....like it was his goal.

Basically you're an idiot b/c you refuse to admit that Saban started the greatest run in the history of LSU football.

One of my ex gf's made me really good at sex. I don't think my fiancé would mind if I made a shrine of her in our living room.

I like alabamas NC statue tradition, but it's not one of our traditions so let's leave it there.

i've given him credit. He did great things while he was here....walking on water wasn't one of them.

Nope. but he's at bama now....so frick 'em.

I've admitted it. He did. But he's not here anymore and he tries to ruin our season every year. So like i said before....frick 'em.

so Archer did well for 2 seasons = winning with Arnsparger's players

Dinardo did well for 3 seasons = risen savior

please go on...

you don't think Saban did some great things here and is in some way responsible for our continuing success?

the influence has about worn off, the situation at LSU could easily have been totally screwed up by now. The academic center is a benefit, but I doubt that is making the difference for big time recruits.

What a dumbass. Classy huh? Don't be such a sissy and try and hide behind politically correct statements. He's a Gump, end of story. I'm sure WV is planning their RichRod statue

"the difference"? some difference, absolutely. the entire difference, of course not

clearly you are a good judge of what is and is not classy. how our baseball fans treat quality opponents is admired here and across the country. our football fans should display the same maturity. it's a sign that you've been there before and you aren't a scared little chickenshit team that is worried they will fade back into obscurity at the first sign of failure.

The notion that because Sabama does something we should too is nonsense. We do not need to idolize any coach. If Sabama could stuff Bear Bryant they would. Let's just be LSU and forget what the Gumps do.

I look forward to see manwich defend miles when people criticize him with the same intensity as he has done for defending saban so far in this thread.

Saban did a great job here and i am happy we had him as our coach. with that said, lsu shouldn't honor him with a statue.

LSU provided as much to saban as saban did for lsu. Saban was part of the turn around. not THE PART. As Much or More recognition should go to emmert. He hired saban and provided the academic and finacial support for saban/lsu to succeed.

Saban was thought of as a good coach, not elite, prior to coming to lsu. had he not been successful here, bama would not have wanted him.

Had emmert not provided the resources, he wouldn't have been. (dinardo didn't have the luxury of high paid assistants, academic support, recruiting budget, score boards, stadium improvements, tradition funds, updated practice and training facilities/staff. ect.)

he didn't make bama or lsu. he shouldn't be given all the credit for it either.

lsu turned around due to their finacial and academic commitment to develop the football program to be the best it could be. Saban was part of that finacial investment.

The reason lsu is successful post saban is this commitment/plan has been continued/followed.

OK .. i'll go slow here .. it is pretty safe to assume that anyone that calls themselves an LSU fan that hates nick saban right now IS a jilted ex-lover of sorts because they are still pissed that he left LSU ...

Time heals old wounds, I would hope that most LSU fans are over their hatred of Saban, and just appreciate that he did some great things for LSU, and help make them the football power they are today. A lot of folks were simply scared when Saban went to Bama that he would dominate the SEC & beat LSU every year. The fact that Miles beat Saban last year and Bama choked against Auburn, showed that he is not the Bear, and really put a lot of fans at ease. Saban is a very good coach in a very good league, but I just feel that until he retires, or out of college football, then we can give him his due praise from an LSU point of view.

good for you. i criticize CLM when he screws up and praise him when he does well. i'm not a negatiger or a sunshine pumper. if you fall into one of those categories, you might disagree with me. i don't care. Miles has produced some incredible results for us. for that, i will never wholly discount his career here and neither would any other sane person.

That's fine. I just don't see why you and a few others in this thread are getting mad that some people criticize saban. Is it only okay to be critical of miles and not saban? Serious question. It just seems that people on this forum get bent out of shape if there is any negativity towards nick.
