yeah, i am saying he set the wheels in motion .. les obviously deserves the credit for everything his program has accomplished .. but to just refuse to recognize saban's place in LSU football history because everyone's pissed he left is just fricking silly, that's all ... paul dietzel walked away from a similar LSU program in the 1960s to coach at Army ... you don't hear hatred toward him ..

You do know that LSU was a pretty respected program before Sab......
are you kidding ? you think our program was NATIONALLY respected to the degree it is now before saban got here ? did you hit your head and forget the hallman and archer years ?? you're talking about a program that turned cartwheels winning the indy bowl in 1995 ! come on .. that's just fricking stupid to say ..

I'm not. Saban knob gobbling disgusts me

yes...key word is "did"

in some way responsible for our continuing success?
maybe...but so is Dinardo to some extent. He left 7 years ago. He has little if no impact on what LSU is doing right now. Can i blame him for our shitty '08 season then?

grow up. the jilted lover syndrome should be ancient history by now
No syndrome...i don't like him just like i don't like anything associated with bama football.

But for the OP to suggest a statue right now is just a stupid idea.

And Nick should send Gerry Dinardo a Christmas card every year for starting the fence around the state in recruiting.

The OP over-exaggerated it but i think it's just meant that saban deserves the credit for the start of the success.
I'm not a fan of the statues at all, but i'm for some sort of honor. i also wouldn't want a statue of coach that is still coaching a direct competitor every year.

bill arnsparger started that fence long ago .. and comparing saban to dinardo is beyond laughable .. grow the frick up and give the man the respect he deserves .. he made a business decision and went to the NFL .. so the frick what .. we made a business decision and fired dinardo .. that's collegiate athletics .. dispelling what saban means to the history of LSU football is straight up ignorant and retarded ..

quote:we honor our past players and coaches all of the time. why not him? because he left us? so did Dietzel. because he lied about leaving? most coaches do because the media and fans would kill their future job prospects if they didn't. because he went to Bama? did you see how much they paid him? Saban wasn't born under LSU's stately oaks. it was a job. a job he did well. when better jobs opened up he followed the money and prestige. successful people do that. how about instead of crying over Saban using LSU, be satisfied that LSU used Saban's services to reach a NC and a spot amongst the elite of college football? we helped him, he helped us. it's business. it's not his fault you fell in love with him.

before saban got here .. LSU had won TWO SEC championships in 30 years .. TWO ! (1970 and 1986) .. saban won TWO by himself .. before saban LSU hadn't won a major bowl game since 1968 .. saban won TWO major bowl games .. before saban, we hadn't won an NC since 1958 .. i know this kills you, but i am going to say it .. saban won ONE in 2003 ..

i did.....7 years ago.
he coaches for bama now. therefore....i don't like him. One of his goals every year is to beat the shite out of us.....so frick him. If he coached at SDSU i wouldn't give a shite.
Posted on 4/18/11 at 11:49 am to manwich
i can't believe these idiots aren't over that shite seven years later still ..

so you completely discount everything he did at LSU .. how do you feel about paul dietzel ? he left us for Army after winning an NC .. he even said he would never coach anywhere BUT LSU before he left ... so how do you feel about him ?

Are people getting upset with Alabama honoring Saban with a statue because he won a national title?
