Honestly, Hatch seems like a great, hardworking guy and all, but how did he get the starting job at QB for LSU? I know that he played an important role as a change of pace, duel threat QB, but what did the coaches see that translated into SEC QB? I know people complain about Lee a lot, but at least he has potential.

The fact that Hatch was the starting QB at the beginning of last year makes me question some of the offensive coaching.

Hatch started over Lee because Lee can't keep the ball flying to the recievers hands. Lee would (and still does) throw too many interceptions which killed us last year. Hatch could at least make good decisions and keep the chains moving somewhat.

Also Hatch never threw a pick 6

It depends what his major was. Does anyone know what Hatch was majoring in?

lee >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> hatch

hatch is the worst LSU QB that i can remember

*ETA: and i'm not really trying to shite on hatch. he was a so-so recruit for mid-major programs. he just wasn't talented enough to QB a BCS team, let alone a team who should make BCS bowls most years

he was never supposed to start for LSU and he was just put in a tough spot. it's not his fault he's not talented enough

Good story on Hatch. Good player or not, the guy went for it. I have nothing but respect for him.

As far as LSU vs. Harvard ... there's not a comparison in terms of academics. Anybody that would take an LSU degree over a Harvard one is crazy (and don't roll out petroleum engineering, agriculture or the such - I'm speaking in generalities). My qualifications got me a Top 100 scholarship at LSU. They probably wouldn't have gotten me near the Ivy League.

Can you get a good education at LSU? Yes. Are there a lot of awesome students at LSU? Yes. Are there a hundred times the number of grossly mediocre students than excellent ones at LSU? Yes. Imagine every class is 100% full of the top LSU students. That's probably still a lower caliber than Harvard.

They can be obnoxious about their academics like we can be about football, except they don't ever go 8-5 in academics.

BTW, my guess is that his LSU credits transferred, but only as mostly electives. If a class doesn't fit into an existing one nearly exactly, you'll only get generic credit for that class in the subject. If it's like LSU, it won't directly apply to your degree, other than as electives.

Maybe 20 or 30 years ago, but right now, and especially with the hard economic times, many people have been questioning legitimately if the investment (many times hundreds of thousands of dollars) is worth the return (in terms of lifetime earning potential) from an ivy league school or even a private institution that costs many times over what a public degree would. LINK

Just look at the CEO's at the fortune 500 companies. Sure there are plenty who have big time degrees from big time school's, but it would surprise many of you to learn that there are also a good bit who got their bachelor's and some even their MBA's from small public schools. It's what they did after school, like using the connections and networks they built, and mainly just working their asses off, that got them in the spots they are in today. To just assume that a brainiac who went to some ivy league school and never made a B is automatically gonna make more money than the kid who went to the public university and worked 3 jobs and had a couple internships is not necessarily the case.

The business world is about one thing - delivering (which translates into $$$). Once you've proven you can deliver on one thing, you get another chance ... and another ... and another. The skill to deliver is not taught in a classroom, although the drive for competition can be learned/honed there.

If the bar is set higher, you have to jump higher. The better schools have a higher bar because the people around you have the capability.

Plenty of people do great from a middle of the pack school. I don't think my LSU degree has helped or hindered me against other college grads, other than having sports as something to gab about. LSU is considered to be a fine college degree and I've never been questioned about it.

I have heard prestigious college grads talk down other colleges, but I have also seen people from prestigious colleges get passed over because they were considered to be over-qualified or "probably wouldn't stick around".

Harvard did not count any of his L.S.U. credits

They must have seen the shots Hatch took in the Auburn game and figured he probably wouldn't remember anything he learned at LSU. Make him take the classes again just to be sure.

Wow here two years and not one Credit. Guess Harvard does think highly of LSU

LSU is pretty notorious for not taking credits from other schools, especially other major state schools. I have spoken to several people over the years who have complained about that. There has to be some quality control when handing out diplomas. Harvard has taken many LSU grads into its graduate schools over the years.
