Perry Riley and Kelvin Sheppard were pretty good

Two recruits in four years is a great track record for someone who also doesn't pull his weight as an on field coach. Neither Riley or Sheppard were offered by UGA either. I'm still waiting on his list of Texas recruits BC the BBQ gang said he does that so well but was just over his head as a DC. The only good thing a Peveto hire would bring is a huge power play btwn he and Ensminger over who is Les' #1 buddy, that can only lead to mass chaos.

out Peveto we don't get ginger Dick Butkus out of TX or about 5 Georgia kids that made Rocky Duplessis look like a 5*

By all means Les, bring back the magic

Yep, K. sheppard, Riley, T. Toliver, R. Shepard, all sucked.

3* not offered by UGA. Not like Peveto went toe to toe with Richt and got them. They developed under Chavis.

T. Toliver

Legacy....and was recruited by Porter anyway

R. Shepard

GF was already at LSU and he was coming here regardless....and was also recruited by Porter

Peveto commits while at LSU:

Jacob O'Hair
Perry Riley
Kelvin Sheppard
Steven Singleton
Al Woods
Andrew Crutchfield
T-Bob Hebert
Josh Jasper
John Williams
Derrick Bryant
Cordian Hagans
Kyle Prater

Bold didn't even contribute.

It will be Peveto. Good recruiter in the East Texas area. And has worked with Miles before. He can also provide help as the asst. D Line coach.

Plus if anything ever happens to Chavis he can fill in at DC.

Just kidding

I'm not saying Peveto is a great recruiter, but he also doesn't exclusively decide which players to offer and recruit. Those guys may no have contributed but they were wanted by the staff.

Truthfully I don't know how good a recruiter Peveto is.

It defninitely seemed like he wasn't one of our primary recruiters, just looking back at his offers and commits. But people will blindly shite on him because of the failed Co-DC experiment and act like hiring him as a ST coach would be the end of days. Yet, for some reason they want to crown Jabar Juluke, who has coached 1 whole season of running backs at LA Tech. Bunch of sheeple.

So, by your logic..... instead of finding someone that could be great, we settle on someone who we already know is sub par.

Is he a subpar ST coach? What other "great" ST coach candidates were out there?

Does it matter? We already established that he's not a game changing recruiter. Should we not want someone that is good at both?

Already know is subpar? God, you're a fricking idiot. I'll take someone who is proven to be an adequate to good special teams coach (BDP) over someone who has coached 1 year in college EVER.

BUT HE COULD BE GREAT (based on absolutely nothing) OMG!!!! JULUKE!!!!

And really, how great can a special teams coach be? Maybe Juluke could be a good addition to the staff somewhere down the line, but I really wish this obsession with him would go away.

Was Juluke a great recruiter all those years at Karr? What am I missing here?

That was a lot of words directed at someone that hasn't once mentioned Juluke. This is about BDP

A for effort

D for presentation

Well the reality is not everyone on the staff will be a "game changing" recruiter, especially at ST coordinator. Did you consider McCaughey a "game changing" recruiter?

OK. Explain in what way he was subpar. List all the recruits he targeted and missed out on. Show me our ST blunders from 2005-2007.

While you're at it, who would you like us to hire?

Right. If you want to prove he is a bad recruiter, then show the misses not the commitments. He's not the guy in charge of deciding who to recruit, so even if the guys that committed to him don't pan out that doesn't necessarily make him a bad recruiter.

And nevermind the fact that Mallory was our primary DC in '08, Peveto was offered to stay on staff under Chavis after '08 and even Saban (gasp) tried to lure him to Tuscaloosa before he took the NWST job. Not saying this really proves anything, but the guy clearly isn't a hack and we could do way, way worse for a ST coach (Haywood).
