why not have retractable homerun fences so that we can share a baseball and softball stadium and then they wouldn't have to tear down 70 years of tradition?!?!!!?!?!?!!
I am not sure about keeping the old Alex Box for both teams, but they could have made a nice softball park out the existing Alex Box grandstand and facilities. That would have given the softball team a new home and at least kept the old Alex Box history alive.

I am not sure that is 100% correct. I know that when Arkansas built the new Baum baseball stadium back in the late 90's, they converted the old baseball stadium into a softball stadium. I don't think they put very much money into the conversion (compared to LSU building 2 totally new facilities).
I think it has more to do with promising the softball coach a new facility when they hired her away from ULL.

Yeah, I'd much rather go to a half assed finished stadium, with shite all over the place then a nice, brand spanking new place, all nice and clean that is acutally "FINISHED"
But that's not an option right now, so why are we wasting board space on it?
The options are a playable, 90% (or more) finished brand new awesome stadium or a 100 year old relic that is literally falling apart.

That's common knowledge. Bertman has said that for years in his press conference. That was the holdup on the new Box. Bertman wasn't gonna retire form coaching until he got a new stadium but thats how long it took. In Title 9 everything has to be equal. Also a couple of years ago the girls were a number 1 seed and didn't even host. They blamed it on the stadium.

It's unreal how some fans keep kicking the softball team. They work just as hard as the baseball team does. There is not one coach out there that works any harder than coach g. I'll say this , most of the people that put down on the siftball team have never been to a gameor they would change their minds. It is not mickey mouse like most think if fact there are some players that could probably play on the baseball team. Just go to one game before you judge !!!

You know...I'd get really pissed everytime I drove past the corner of N. Stadium and Nicholson and see that Tiger Stadium construction sign...you know the one...the one that said "Completion date: September 2005"...the one that sat there until a year and a half later, when construction was actually completed...That would actually annoy me a little

It's hard to tell sometimes with the Rant. I'll just take your word for it.

Amen Brother.... the only reason to build it was to allow the building of the new Box... welcome to the world of Title IX
I'd hope you'd feel otherwise if your daughter were on the team, but I doubt it. Women probably shouldn't be bothering with sports in the first place.

Although I didn't post that and I don't have an opinion one way or another, I did see a special one time where they had a major league batter face a fast pitch softball pitcher and she embarrased the guy. Although the pitcher is closer to the catcher in softball and doesn't throw as fast as baseball players, the reaction time for the batter is actually less than in baseball. That's why you see a lot of softball batters actually start their swinging motion even before the pitcher releases the ball.

In Title IX, everything the school pays has to be equal to the ratio of male/female students. These stadiums aren't being built with Athletic Dept money so they were not legally bound to build a new softball stadium in order to build the baseball stadium. It is just the right thing to do.

I hope so. They have to be given equal treatment. I think they give more scholarships as well. That is why baseball scholarships are so low because of Title 9. Actually rowing gets more scholarships than baseball.
