Anything pas his current contract terms was excessive to me. I'm probably over reacting though. I'm not a Miles hater, but can't get past 1-9-12 for some reason.

With this raise Miles went from the 5th highest paid coach in the country to the....
5th highest paid coach in the country.
5th highest paid coach in the country.

A seven year extension is only two more than he negotiated last year. It's not 5+7. Not excessive.
And he's still not even within a million of sniffing Saban's contract.
So everyone flipping out and comparing this to Saban-this and Saban-that need to STFU.

I agree. A mere $500,000 raise and 2 year add-on and people were losing their shite over it.

The extension is virtually meaningless...
Then why did he want it?
It isn't meaningless at all it obligates LSU for more years and money, while Les is free to shake down the university when he "needs" a raise.

did he ask for it or was it offered?

Question: was Miles still receiving the roll over with his old contract? i.e., was he continually getting an extra year added on every year to extend his contract?
And, will this contract include a roll over?

what principle would that be, count muscle?

Who doesn't want their employer to show loyalty to them? What a dumb question.
And, as has been mentioned, we don't even know if he asked.

I can honestly say, that's not that bad. I thought it would be much worse.
Still don't think he should've got it this year, but I can say he earned it last year despite his 1/9 shitshow.

take that $500,000 and put it towards something useful for the university like a 5* shooting guard.

that he got a fricking raise
Doesn't matter if it was $1 or $1 million, it's still a fricking raise which he didn't deserve

Now this is something I can get behind.
