its not that easy to put signage like you're talking about on padding i'd presume. plus im pretty sure i read that in the advocate as well.

I hope so that would look bad. The only major college stadium I saw like that was Stanford and the outfield fence looked like a high school field.

The Twins have a tarp for an outfield wall...I'd say that's much worse.

also the way the softball's padding is, how it only goes down like 3/4 of the way. im pretty sure thats somewhat standard for softball fields.

Your right. I didn't realized the outfield wall would be padding. I haven't seen any pic of it. I rode by and did see chainlink. Was wondering what would happen with that. But the padding will be nice

im guessing you just saw the chain link before they added the padding around it.

That looks good. Like I said just suprised me that there are no ads. That could make like 40 grand a year in ads.

Here is a closer look at the padded outfield wall. Since they have padding, there is no need for a solid wall behind it. Chain link is sturdy enough to support the padding. After the Super Regional last year with Landry getting popped in the eye with that hard ricochet, I think the padding should help lessen these kind of injuries.

By the way, it could be worse. Florida doesn't even have padding. They just have a fabric mesh with an alligator skin design over a chain link fence.

Another thing to keep in mind in terms of advertising is the new video screens. You can easily advertise between innings via the scoreboard, which may be what they're thinking in terms of the lack of advertising on the outfield wall.

Of course you can.

Some sort of batter's eye needs to be provided, but you can still do that AND have bleachers in CF.

What are the field dimensions? Somebody once said they were on makeyourpitch.net, but I can't find it.

Does anyone know what the regulations (I guess in this case NCAA regulations) are for minimum size of batter's eye? I'm just thinking about the one in the old Box, and how weird bleachers above it would look due to height (especially compared to the height of the left field bleachers).

I know that they aren't putting bleachers in center for phase 1 or 2, I'm just more curious than anything.

Beautiful pics. Thanks for sharing them.

A friend of mine told me he actually enjoyed tailgaiting at baseball games more because he said it was more of a "community" environment. I've never been to a baseball game. So I wouldn't know. In fact besides football, the only other sporting event I've seen at LSU was the NCAA Track & Field Cahampionships in 1987(?).

LSU got its colors bc of Mardi Gras. When lsu and tulane were deciding on school colors back in the day there was lots a material/fabric available in purple, gold, and green bc of mardi gras. I the schools were making uniforms for sports or the band or whatever. Anyway, lsu took purple and gold and tulane took the green. I've never researched this, it's just a what my grandfather told me. Sounds right though.
