this park is looking badass. a worthy heir to the alex box throne.

i have a friend who works for grounds crew that saw the field today and said that it looks good and is pretty close to completion.

after looking at the other pictures on lsusports.net im wondering...

theres alot of mud and such around the field. are they going to have this paved for gametime? and if not where will the temporary parking be?

LSU did not build a new Tiger Park because they felt like throwing money away (with a 10+ year old park) but because, just like baseball, softball was falling behind the rest of the SEC in facilities. See LSU's competition below.

Arkansas

Alabama

Tennessee

Florida

Georgia

To give you an idea of how much work they can do with a parking lot, the first photo below shows the progress of the parking lot outside Tiger Stadium 6 weeks before the first game, second photo.

This is a photo from Dec. 15th and you can see the extensive amount of work already accomplished on the main parking lot (west of Alex Box). I am guessing the mud you are seeing is the smaller parking lot South of the stadium.

Why is there so little outfield seating at the New Alex Box?

I am just surprised that they didn't put outfield bleachers in center and right field.

I thought the same but realized its the Softball field in that picture. I saw somewhere they had a solid wall. If not that would be terrible. But it will be covered up with billboards anyway.

They had a picture posted earlier of a scoreboard being put up with a chainlink fence in front of it. It looked permanent because of the policap and wind screen. Must have been old

this one? yeah its chain link under the padding. the box is the same way. but its covered so it doesnt look as bad. im pretty sure the padding at the box goes all the way down btw so you cant see the chain link at all.

.

I hope so that would look bad. The only major college stadium I saw like that was Stanford and the outfield fence looked like a high school field. I am sure it will be a wall with ads.

Really. I guess I am not for sure but I thought LSU would take advantage of it the make some more money. That was a big money maker at the old box.

What I have seen at LSU I just don't see them passing up easy money. I remember companies waiting to put there sign up. That could be new with Bertman gone.
