We are undefeated and in control of what we do going forward and that is all that matters today. Until we lose, it makes no difference who else wins. If it was possible for both Gumpworld and the aTm to lose in the same game, I would pull for that! But I have no logical reason this weekend to care who wins since we will play them both and we have yet to lose a game.

Most Tiger fans would rather lose a little toe than cheer for Bama to win. Me I don't give a rat's arse about other SEC teams and pull for whoever helps the Tigers. But a Bama loss would effectively eliminate Bama and we have A&M at home so I think an Aggie win would be best

Beating Bama is still a goal, and it will still be sweet, even if the season isn't on the line in that game.

And technically, Bama wouldn't be mathematically out of it even if they lost to Aggy, but they would if we give them their third loss. I actually prefer the idea of LSU eliminating that last glimmer of hope over handing them their second loss and them still having a chance after.

Can you imagine how insane that would be if it came down to an LSU-A&M game for the west on the last game of the regular season? Tiger Stadium would be absolutely electric. That would be the biggest game at home since the 2012 Bama game. I hope this happens

I'm going to have to be sure to watch that Ole Miss-A&M game. Not often you get to see both teams lose. Can we have that for A&M-Bama this weekend, too?

To be honest I think I would rather Bama win this weekend as well. The more I look at the schedule the more I think that if we are going to have the kind season we want it starts by beating Bama. In which case having had Bama hand the Aggies a loss is more important than my grudge against those Tusculosers.

You are missing the point as well.

There are 3 teams that control their own destiny in the west relative to LSU:
Alabama
Ole Miss
Texas A&M

If Alabama beats Texas A&M, there will STILL BE THREE TEAMS IN THE WEST THAT CONTROL THEIR OWN DESTINY RELATIVE TO LSU:
Alabama
Ole Miss
Texas A&M

If Texas A&M beats Alabama, then there will only be two teams that control their own destiny relative to LSU:
Texas A&M and Ole Miss

Let's go a step further and include Ole Miss in this-
If Texas A&M beats Alabama and Ole Miss:
Texas A&M controls its own destiny against LSU

If Texas A&M loses to Alabama and Ole Miss:
Alabama and Ole Miss control their own destiny against LSU

If Texas A&M loses to Alabama and beats Ole Miss:
Texas A&M and Alabama control their own destiny against LSU.

Short recap:
After this weekend, every scenario has at least 2 teams controlling their own destiny as to LSU.
The scenario you are hoping for has 3 teams that do so, including Alabama. There is another scenario that includes only 2 teams, with neither of those teams being Alabama. Many people in this thread are trying to explain this to you.

Even shorter:
Hoping for 3 games against teams who are playing for a championship instead of 2 is stupid, especially if one of those 3 is LSU's toughest game.

Speak for yourself on what "we want". I want any kind of season that lands LSU in the SEC championship and the playoffs. If we accomplish that, I can live with a loss to Alabama.

A&M beating Alabama is easily better for us than the other way around. Alabama would be all but eliminated. Bama beating A&M keeps them both in the picture.

It's not just about having the ability to lose the game and still win the West.

1. I think if Alabama is already eliminated from SECW contention it will make it much easier to come out of there with a W than if LSU stands between them and the SECCG.

2. For recruiting purposes, I think its better for LSU if they become an also-ran at the midpoint in the season.

3. I'm not a believer that there is an actual conspiracy for the SEC refs to screw LSU, but I do think that there is a tendency for calls to favor the teams in the SEC most likely to play in the BCSCG (now playoffs), and if Bama gets knocked off some of that might come our way.

Like i said earlier, I have more confidence that LSU can beat aTm and Ole Miss than I do that they can beat Bama. Especially on the road.

The best scenario for LSU is:

aTm beats Bama
OM beats aTm
Arky/MSU beats OM
AU beats aTm

So, this weekend we need aTm to beat Bama.

But by this same thinking isn't a Loss to Bama the first step in eliminating A&M as a threat so that after we beat Bama we would be the only undefeated team left with A&M or Ole miss with at least one more loss. That would be a seriously strong position to start November in.

So the standings would look like this at least after the Bama win.

LSU 0 Loss
A&M/OleMiss 1 Loss
A&M/OleMiss 2 Loss
Bama 2 Loss

Well yea, if we are starting this exercise with the assumption that LSU is going to win in Alabama, then it makes sense to want A&M to get a loss. It just seems silly that your entire thought processes ignores the possibility that LSU could lose against Alabama while somehow still grasping that its possible for LSU to lose to Ole Miss or Texas A&M.

Im not ignoring it I'm just truly of the thinking that if we lose to Bama then the chances to win the West significantly decrease no matter what. Consider that Ole Miss has a bye before they play us right after we play Bama and a loss to Bama looks like it could drag our season down in a hurry.
