That was huge that FSU got 9 points instead of more in the 100

Hey, it's the guy who was confident that FSU was going to win after only 6 events.

LSU 2nd in womens 800. Oregon 4th and 5th. More good news.

Yep. Pretty much eliminates them.

LSU will obviously outscore Oregon in the 200 and 110h and probably the relays (I'm speculating by a total of about 25). Oregon will probably outscore the Tigers in the 400 and 800 (but not by anywhere near 25, maybe like 10). It is going to depend on how much they pick up in the 3 distance races (I think they will get a podium spot in both the 15 and 5k so they will make up at least 12 on us there) and is likely to hinge on placement in the 4x4.
Oregon picks up 1 point on LSU in the 800, which is very good news. They are only likely to pick up 2-4 on us in the 400m, if anything.

Oregon picks up 3 on LSU in the steeplechase.

The Lady Tigers are killing it!

Florida wins 400. A&m gets last. LSU and Florida are now the clear favorites. Floridas triple jumper is leading while LSU's is in 5th with 1 jump remaining.

LSU beats Oregon in the womens 400.

We picked up 4 on Oregon in the 400. That should do it unless we drop a stick or Oregon's 5k/1500m girls shock the world.

How is it that they are tied with LSU now in the overall standings?
Posted on 6/8/12 at 7:24 pm to WildTchoupitoulas
Tate, Lipsey and Alexander all pulled rabbits out of their hats today and have given the women a big cushion. At this point, LSU can only beat themselves. All they have to do tomorrow is not screw up.

LSU Triple Jumper Kyron Blaise pulls out the Bronze and a BIG 6 points by 1/2 inch on his final jump!
Florida's Omar Craddock wins the event.
Florida 36
VA Tech 26
Arizona 24
LSU 23
Oregon 22

I'm not sure what you are asking. They are tied because they have scored the same number of points.

What? Where the hell are you getting 43 points for Florida from?
The correct score is Florida 36 LSU 23. All other scores are pretty irrelevant at this point.

I screwed it up. It's edited now. Thanks.

To give everybody an idea of where we are headed into the last day......
On the women's side, we are running away with it. I don't see how we can't win at this point. If we continue to do even decently we should easily handle Oregon.
On the men's side, we are 13 points behind Florida. We both have 4x4s, which is the last event. The 4x4 teams are more or less comparable so whoever goes into that event leading will have the advantage.
In addition, we have our 4x1, Aaron Earnest in the 200, and the defending champion hurdler left. They have the 8th seeded hurdler. If we can outscore them by 13 points amongst these events, we'll be in the lead.
But also note, the 4x4 is so competitive this year that anything short of a double digit lead will be surmountable going in to the finals. LSU is capable of getting 1st while Florida gets last and vice versa. It really is that good this year.
Texas A&M has good point opportunities in the 4x1, steeple, 200, and hurdles as well as a 4x4. If they can get top 3 finishes in all of those events, we will have to start worrying about them as well.

What are you talking about? LSU and Oregon go head to head in the 100, 400, 800, 4x100 and 4x400.
Thats a relatively small percentage of the events when you consider LSU is going to get around 18 of their points in the 200 and Oregon is going to get a ton out of the distance events. In any event, there are some head to heads, but its not like the men where you can't find a single event that doesn't have multiple contending teams with an entrant.
Are you drunk? There are five head-to-heads between Oregon and LSU in which both schools are expected to score major points (eg. 1st, 2nd and 3rd, not 7th and 8th). Here's the link to Track & Field News' formchart that came out right before the meet:
LINK
Today, LSU picked up 30 points in those head-to-heads, and they can potentially pick up another 20 points in tomorrow's head-to-heads. That's 50 points in five events. Oregon picked up 23 points in today's head-to-heads with a chance to pick up some more points in tomorrow's head-to-heads. I predict that when this meet is over, the majority of both teams points will have come from these head-to-head matchups, but since you disagree with me, please name the school that LSU's men have more head-to-head opportunities with than LSU's women.

Big day for the Tigers on both sides. Will be keeping an eye on baseball but will be watching track.
Women will have the easiest road but men still have a shot. If the men are consistent and we can pull some points in the 200 we may get something going. 2 titles in one day is always nice
