I don't know. They've only won 5 games since April 1st. 3 against Stanford who is a dumpster fire.
They are not good. They lost 12 in a row, then beat Stanford 3 straight (Stanford finished 0-24 in the league) then lost 2 to Oregon St, with the third being rained out. Breanna Macha, who shut us out in the first game against them in the regional last year, is 7-7 with an ERA of 5.13. The lovely young lady pictured above with the nice boobies is their staff ace, with a record of 15-11 and an ERA of 3.04. She gave up 24 HR. Her Pac-12 ERA was 4.14.
I look for McNeese St. to give them a very good battle in the first game.

That is correct about AZ State. Their coach from last year resigned for personal reasons in October (run off) and the coaches are co-interim head coaches. The national forums had a lot of talk about this in the Fall.

The regional definitely works for us but it seems it would've made more sense if they sent ASU to ULL and Texas here. UT isn't great anymore but good enough and ASU might be in the middle of bottoming out.

Or if not that, send Oregon State here (though, they look to be a better team on paper), and send ASU to Auburn. That way there's the Clint Myers former team storyline going on.
Oh well, I'm not really complaining. The regional looks pretty nice for the Tigers.

I might be wrong...but Austin might be out of the "bus radius" to Baton Rouge that the NCAA uses for travel and Lafayette is within it. And you can't tell me that the committee didn't have a couple of Verne Lundquist-like chortles at the prospect of having A&M and Texas in the same regional...

Maybe but it's another 45 minutes.

True.

I believe the cutoff for bus travel is 400 miles.
Austin to Baton Rouge: 435 miles
Austin to Lafayette: 380 miles
Rules is rules!!

Well, alright. But why are we always matched with Zona and ASU? Do they think we're close because there's only 2 states in between? LIU-Brooklyn is closer to LSU than ASU.

I actually dug this up out of an NCAA travel manual..
I have no logical answer for that one. All I know is I am glad that we got ASU instead of Oregon State, Arizona, or California. Even Utah would have been a tough draw out of that league.

The SEC is kinda good at softball

I feel like Longwood has a real shot of making it out of the JM regional. Would be nice to host another Super.

McNeese will probably beat them. That's a really good club.

I don't mind ASU, I'm just glad they got Arizona out of our bracket.
If LSU does get to WCWS, it will be a tough bracket with Oklahoma and Michigan on LSU side of bracket and then Florida in a best two of three championship barring upsets. Daunting to say the least.

Not bad times, just hope the damn weather cooperates this weekend.

Agree, but these two teams are not better than the gauntlet we just faced in the SECT. If we catch it, our pitching will always give us a chance. Bell and Simmons have been swinging it and Jaquish had some very hard hit balls caught in Starkville. I think Beth has us peaking at the right time.

Agreed. Friday might be problematic, but the rest of the weekend should be better.
Back to some of the seeding stuff...again, why did Georgia get a host site? Looking at the latest RPI, they are in at 19. Everyone in the top 16 is hosting except for Baylor. They seem to have been screwed, and I'm sure Oregon is none too happy to see them in their region. Is Baylor's facility not up to hosting standards these days or what?

What the one poster said last night Georgia coach must have paid the ncaa lol, i was shocked to see Baylor not host. Like you said I'm sure oregon is none to pleased to see them in their own regional.

James Madison/Towson replay now on CST . It's almost over. The Ford girl can spin the ball. Really a good pitcher

Our pitching alone will carry us to the CWS. Even at the CWS, our pitching is more seasoned this year and we have Sydney Smith.
Offensively, I think we are turning the corner. Kloss has been very close to blasting the ball out the park the past couple weeks. Landry is seeing the ball better. Jaquish is smoking the ball, she has just been unlucky.
The key for this team going into the post season is just play solid defense and don't hurt ourselves.
This offense 1-9 are all capable of making big plays at any time.
