Despite LSU’s losses which are a real downer for us the fans, there’s plenty of positive news about LSU being reported nationally. The media are constantly heaping praise on both LSU’s football program, it’s players (thanks to Burrow, Chase and Jefferson) and the great opportunity LSU represents for coaches.

Most of the media often note that LSU is a top 5 program, with the last 3 coaches winning titles there. Implying that it’s one of the greatest opportunities out there. They point to the talent available in Louisiana and LSU’s facilities. And point to LSU players winning consecutive rookie of the year titles in the NFL, Jefferson and Chase.who both grew up in Louisiana.

The national media can’t seem to get enough of Chase and Burrow. Some seemed upset that the Ravens vs Cincy game was shown to only about 16% of the national viewing audience and expect that number to change dramatically now.

With the historic numbers that Chase and Burrow are putting up against elite NFL defenses, it’s like a constant info commercial about LSU. It will be interesting to see how much all of this plays into LSU’s coaching search. Will it help LSU land the big whale?

How do we have bad coaching when our guys light it up as rookies

Burrow, Chase and Jefferson are continuing to help LSU win. Their national notoriety is going to help LSU win another title by helping us attract a very talented coach. I feel it!

Pretty much every game has a really good player from LSU. That definitely has to be used when recruiting

Yes - a supposed Top 5 coaching opportunity yet it appears possibly headed for a Tier 2 coaching hire.

it’s always a “possibility” we’ll have to settle, but what makes it “appear” that we will at this point in the process?

Nothing makes it appear that way. Some people take the silence and the fact that Woodward hasnt called them personally, as proof that nothing is happening and our top choices have turned us down.

Like we are entitled to every detail every step of the way.

I often praise Woodward here on TD and rightfully so. Just know this. LSU is currently getting a ton of positive coverage nationally 24/7 and LSU is allocating an enormous amount money to be available for this next hire. Woodward has no excuses.

When did Joe Burrow "grow up in Louisiana?" and, where? I have been following high school football for a while, now, and last I checked, I never heard his name on Friday Night Football, Ken Trahan's Original, or the 104.5 Louisiana scoreboard.

Ohio, you say?

I watch a ton of the coverage nationally on YouTube surrounding LSU players in the NFL and our coaching search. Not even Alabama and Saban aren’t getting this amount of positive coverage.

So I refuse to accept there’s “always a possibility.” It’s like the perfect moment for LSU to make a great coaching hire. If not now, then when?

You’ve never heard of Louisiana Legend Joe Burreaux? He was adopted, or he adopted us.

My dad whom I loss to covid was 100% Cajun, grew up speaking Cajun. Hard worker, fierce competitor, and treated everyone around him like family. Joe Burrow is all of that, except for his small speech impediment.

it's amazing how people are so myopic or don't understand how the world works.

First of all define top tier vs 2nd tier?

Second rankings are not some immutable scientific fact. The difference between the top 5 or top 10 even 12-15 jobs is marginal. So you are not going to poach a coach form another elite job that's winning there ie the guys that would be considered "top tier". Even still Jimbo Fisher is one of 5 active coaches (counting O) that has won a NC and yet many on these boards did not want him and think he's no good.

LSU is in it's best position ever to hire a coach. The position has never been as appealing.

USC isn't close to the opportunity LSU is right now.

Define great coaching hire? There are no guarantees, there is no grand slam. There is no magic formula. Just look at the top coaches the last 2 decades and where they were before becoming top tier

I will never understand why everyone insists on making everything a zero sum game

There's appeal to both, i would agree that LSU is a better job, but positives for USC would include an easier path to the playoff, when USC has its shite together they can dominate out west and some people really like LA/So Cal lifestyle etc.

It all depends on what the individual coaches preferences are

I totally agree. Anyone accepting less is just searching for excuses.

It’s wild to see in nearly every NFL game former LSU guys making an impact these past several years.

Mathieu, CEH, White, Kwon, OBJ, Landry, Debo, Fournette, Peterson, Delpit, etc. etc. etc. just to name a few. Adams and Woods just last night.

My favorite part is most of the guys openly pump LSU any time they get the chance, you love to see the Tiger pride in the league and recruits definitely notice this. It’s this culture that’s part of what makes LSU HC such an attractive job.

What the hell does stuff like this mean?

What is less? Who is this magic coach you want?
