He had a red-shirt year plus all spring and summer to get ready.
JJ had on a few months and performed better..
Hope JL and be a good back-up..

It's funny how many give Lee no chance of improving while expectations for Jefferson are through the roof. I hope like hell JJ does improve, but if he doesn't, we'll be looking to Lee to take over the passing game. And don't bother mentioning Shepard as he will not be ready to take over the passing game.
How many games can we win this year with a 49% completion rate?
Someone better step up or it'll be another long season.

with last year's defense, 7-8. With the defense we have seen since 2003, 12-14.
The whole season rides on the defense.

we scored 30 and 38 in the only 2 games JJ started. He threw 4 td's and 1 int in the 3 games he played in. The opposing defense scored 0 points off of JJ turnovers. We destroyed a tech team that had last beaten georgia. Yes at times JJ didn't play perfect, but he also didn't do anything during that imperfect time that helped the other team win the game. I don't know how you could say questionable. to me it's a no-brainer, and if you think its questionable please state why

not in the least bit.. you certainly cant say he performed worse, so whether he performed at the same level or better than Lee still says alot considering Lee had a whole years worth of experience ahead of Jefferson

Not funny at all.
For me it comes down to a couple of things: instincts and pocket presence/mobility.
JJ has shown great instincts, and the ability to make a play when pressured by moving out of the pocket. Not to mention his ability to run for yards.
Lee, on the other hand, has shown terrible instincts, and some of the worst pocket mobility I have ever seen.
If the defense gets any pressure whatsoever, the play is screwed.
And then there is the whole team leadership in the huddle thing.

I'm glad it doesn't come down to one of the most important passing statistics, completion percentage. But then again, that doesn't support your argument.
JJ may very well be light years better than Lee. But the point many of you are missing is that JJ's performance last season is not good enough to get us to the SECCG this season. It's an unknown how much he'll improve, but it's a given he must improve.

I will agree with your post, but the most hope for progess seems to be with JJ. I fully expect JL to play so I hope he improves and becomes great.

Most rational fans know this is JJ's team now. We also know that running QBs tend to get hurt, so the backup needs to be ready. That backup will be Lee, so we better hope like hell he gets better.

Good Lord man,.,.. the guy will be a freaking sophmore this year.
I dont understand why so many of you are so quick to write players off. Its sorta comical.
I can assure you Im as rational as they come,,, and I cant tell you how much I disagree with that statement.
JJ has played 2 fuking games.
Its absolutltey ridiculous to make that assumption right now.
The reason you say that is b/c its your PERSONAL opoinion and what you hope for. PERIOD.

he showed he was a much much more mature player than Lee.
I haven't written Lee off, and I doubt the coaching staff has either. Granted, it might mean Jefferson screwing up big time to get Lee back in there...which is not good.
I agree that Jefferson has earned the right to start based on his performance at the end of last year, and Lee's failures on the field, but I expect Lee to get a chance to redeem himself. It might just happen at Washington.

any one else makes this same post and about 10 people that I can think of off top of my head gets their panties in a wad and starts labeling you a JJ hater or relative of JL... this place and some of its memebers are at times quite comical.

Dude, I don't either. I didn't see this John Elway-like arm on JL. I do know that JJ's arm was plenty live enough.

Have you not been paying attention? Read Miles comments this spring?

meaningless my arse, some of you are so delusional its disgusting.. it was a game absolutely no one expected us to win, including some of our own fans, and he came out and put them away before halftime.. the same team that came back on Georgia in the second half and ultimately won the game a few weeks prior but since it turned out to be a blow out and JJ had a solid game its meaningless

I totally agree, but man i hope something doesnt happen that we have to yank JJ in the WA game. I would like to see Lee get some PT there though.

Do you think there was more tension and pressure prior to and during the UGA/Bama/Florida games, or the GA Tech game?
There was no SEC West title on the line in the GA Tech game...case closed.

I get your point, but no bowl game is ever meaningless. Bad choice of words.

Actually it's what miles said that allows me to put confidence in JJ starting, "Jordan certainly is in the lead and looks to be making a case for being the starter," Miles said. "He's coming along very nicely. Jarrett certainly had a productive day. Any time the ball is in Russell's hands, there is the capability of making a big play."
This is from tigerbait.com about the scrimmage they had last weekend. I don't know if it was you or someone else that commented about JJ's completion percentage, it was 5 percentage point below JL's. 5 percentage points! That's really not that big of a deal, especially considering he only played 2 games. Yes JJ only played 2 games, but in those 2 games - did he give the other team any points? I completely understand your point, we don't need to write people off because of bad years, but if we do have someone that played just as good if not better than the person that didn't perform well, you have to at least give the person who performed just as good a legitimate shot. I hope JL wins a freakin heisman while at LSU, but just in case he isn't the next Jesus Christ, we should allow someone else to get that same chance.
