Except for that whole consent to search issue. They were investigating a potential trespass and knocked on the door where they learned the alleged trespasser was located. They were invited in - no warrant needed.

They usually knock on the door and when you open it they introduce themselves and walk on in

Not in my experience. They say hi, we are hear to investigate a complaint, may I see ID, and then would you mind if I have a look around.

It's not fun btw.

didn't read the whole thread, but there was a bag found in Mathieu's dresser in his room, so I'd assume that's his rented space.

Officer asked for permission to enter and Mathieu granted him permission. The whole point comes down to who is actually in possession.

That is REALLY dumb.

No one's well being is bettered by having a record of any kind.

Why don't people just tell the cops NO when asked if they can come in and look around?

ESPECIALLY, if you have weed inside and have been smoking already....is the weed that good that makes them believe it is invisible to the cops?

fricking dumb to say yes!!! GO flush it first you dumb frick!

Hold on there cowboy, a history of marijuana use in a draft prospect is not the deal breaker it used to be years ago.

You want to say "no," so then they go get a search warrant? Congratulations, you are now working on the officers patience and I dare say decreasing his lenience towards you.

It is a deal breaker when he is arrested, failed multiple tests in college, got with the top high profile person for help (Lucas), and then got arrested 2 months later..

On tope of not playing ball for 2 years AND being way undersized for the pros anyway....he will not stick in the league.....I know we want every LSU player to be all pro, be let this guy go...he's done and won't do anything worth talking about professionally..he's done, processed, adios,...we gave him an open book to write his story, and he CHOSE this.....thanks for the memories, but stay the frick away from our program please, if you ever loved it at all!

Its not quite that easy to tell the cops" NO"! The cops simply detain you as part of an investigation and get a search warrant. Your F&*ked either way.

He could always apply for the nba draft. they no longer even test for pot. it is now considered not even worth a slap on the wrist. good thing too. most nba teams couldn't even field a team if players were suspended for smoking a doobie. well, maybe if they had 5 european players they could.
