when you play not to lose sometimes you lose. If you don't know that then you should never start another thread

No. Miles said it in the post game. Because of the weather the goal was to get a lead and play not to lose
Did the same thing indoors vs Clemson last year. I don't buy the weather story. It's just his philosophy.

The 4th quarter mirror image of Alabama and Clemson game!

We stuck to the power running game for the first half like any team that has an elite power running game does in significant rain. Hill got us out to an early lead with some stellar running. The second quarter was how the first half should have played out were it not for Hill's running.
And yeah, it sucks. But we opened it up in the 3rd, put some drives together and all but put the game away. The game was never in doubt.
There's nothing to worry about right now. I'd have liked another 45-10 type mudhole stomping like in 2011 too, but we got a solid SEC win with no glaring problems in horrible weather with one of our top two linemen getting injured early and sitting the rest of the game. Hard to complain about putting up 35.

I didn't hav emuch confidence in the D going in and it turns out my fears were warranted.

I'm not saying I agree with that mentality usually. But let's be honest, this game was never really in doubt. They got a comfortable lead and sat on it. I'm positive they would have put another TD or two on the board had the field not been so sloppy.

If Miles really takes over the game offensively. He is the first coach To really ever do it without a play sheet.
LSU controlled the game the whole night. People need to just be happy about a win and stop looking for stupid shite to complain about. LSU has shown to be by far the most complete team in the SEC four games into the season.

take a step back over a zero step cliff.

I think we will know next week if LSU can play better, or it's really a problem. Auburn really moved the ball in the second half and I'm pretty sure Murray is 10x better than Marshall, and Gurley may be the best in the SEC.
Will see.
Will see.

They had runaway momentum when it ended.

the thought of Welter trying to stop Gurly and Eugene trying to cover over the top is a scary thought indeed

I'm more worried about the defense, not the offense.

So am I, but the offense has gotta help out the defense by moving the ball a little, eating the clock and giving the guys some rest. Most of the 2nd and 4th quarter were three and outs.

To be fair, this was the first game that this was a problem. I maintain that it was the game plan to sit on a lead tonight. As shitty as it sounds, they didn't want to take any big risks.
Perhaps they were even looking forward some to Georgia.

It's the first time it's happened this year.
What's unsettling is that it reminds me of the Alabama and Clemson games from last year. Maybe things haven't changed quite as much as we thought.
Will see when we face a team that has better talent. Auburn really had no business being in the game in the 4th quarter.

I understand. But my opinion remains the same about this one. We shall see next week. I don't have the same sickening feeling that I did after the Auburn game last year.

they were very much in the game at the end, had momentum. Miles/Cam handcuffed the offense in the 4th. Maybe they wanted to make the game more interesting.
