The new rule that's gong to be in affect next year will be an issue. The one that says excessive celebration will take actually take away the touchdown instead of the usual 15 yards on the kickoff.
Only if the excessive celebration takes place while scoring the TD, as in making a flip over the goal line while scoring.

Still a total bullshite rule

I don't really care what you think . It's true no matter what you think.

Could you at least say what position you played for LSU?

you know, it may be a bullshite rule, but people need to stop bitching about it.
it's unbelievably easy to avoid getting that penalty
it's unbelievably easy to avoid getting that penalty

It's easy to avoid it but what happens if a team wins a game by a last minute touchdown throw. Can you really expect them not to celebrate?

players shouldn't be celebrating before they get into the endzone but the penalty is to severe. I still think making them kick 15 yards back on the kickoff is a sufficient penalty. It gives the other team great field position to answer the score.

the TD will be overturned if the player celebrates or taunts before scoring. like if he points to the crowd or points at the opposing player while he's running in
if he gets a flag after he scores, it's still a TD
if he gets a flag after he scores, it's still a TD

disagree. any other live-ball penalty on the offense would nullify the TD, why not excessive celebrating/taunting? it actually makes more sense for this rule to be instituted if you ask me
now, where there might be problems and i think could be BS is what the officials deem excessive
Posted on 2/19/11 at 7:01 pm to DBG
I actually assumed that this was already the rule, but that it was just never called.
I support it.

my angle is that I think its to severe for a penalty to take away a touchdown because a players emotions got a little to high when he knew he was going to score. Ridleys td in the cotton bowl would have been taken away for sure.

The celebration has to happen prior to scoring the TD.
