Nah............................they really wouldn't. What they would like to see is a winning men's basketball coach and a better hitting coach for the baseball team. Those two things have nothing to do with a women's basketball coach. You could accomplish those two things and STILL pay your women's basketball coach $700K/year. So, the point is moot. Which is why Alleva's done such a good job with this hire.

Well, one thing I know is that he's not spending YOUR money (and yes, I go to the football games on a regular basis). Otherwise you and I, for that matter, would have a say in affairs of the athletic department. The athletic department is not raising prices at football games because they're paying a women's coach $700K/year. They're raising prices because THEY CAN. They know people like you, are gonna bitch and complain, but in the end YOU and I are GONNA PAY the extra money, period. If we didn't have a women's basketball team they would still raise tickets and fees for football because the fan base will pay it.

So, that's why this whole thread is funny. There are a few guys on here complaining about paying a basketball coach a measly $700K, when they SHOULD be complaining about why fees for football are being raised at all, since the program makes well above what they need to operate the entire athletic department.

Again..................all you guys can come on a thread about women's basketball coach and complain about her pay. But the bottom line, as has been stated is this...............

She's signed the contract.
They've already recruited all the players.
The money for the program is committed.
The coach will indeed receive her salary.
The basketball program will indeed exist and be fully supported by the department.

And guess what........................? There's ABSOLUTELY NOTHING that any of us can do to change that. None of you guys who are claiming that you're brilliant with the budgetary numbers, or who have degrees in "logic", or think that the women's basketball team doesn't deserve the support they're getting, is GOING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. Not one of you guys will........

1. Call the athletic department to express your displeasure.

2. Email Joe Alleva about your displeasure about the basketball program.

3. or even do what this guy did... "we want a winner not a loser"

At least if you did that, you're being somewhat reactive to what you see as mismanagement. The guy looks like an idiot now but, at the time he was actually showing his displeasure as a fan.

But you won't do that. You'll come on a message board and infiltrate any positive thread about the basketball program, with your distaste for it, and try to seem intelligent with imaginary budget numbers. But in the end, you'll just talk.


All the while, Nikki will be collecting her check and the team will be winning championships...............and sadly,when it's all said and done, you'll seem just like that guy in the video above.

So again, why not just enjoy the fact that the team has a great coach and that, more than likely this will equal a much better program and even more visibility for the university?......................................or maybe you think that that's a bad thing.
