Yea, I see what you mean.I get so tired of watching set shots all the time..............

Oh Wait!!

.....and it's clear that the 15,000+ at that game were bored as hell.

......and how many times can you watch blown layups and not be bored?

Oh, the Agony......

And no matter how much they win they won't reduce that deficit by much.

LSU was drawing 5500 at one time I know for a fact and another post said up to 7000, but now is drawing 3000 while paying Van $700,000.

Seems to me like we will have the same expense with a chance of greater revenue from increase ticket sales and everything else more people in the stands brings to the revenue.

Where is the down side?

Or just pay much less for a coach since the program makes negative money. Break closer to even that way. Better business.

And not going to the ncaa tournament this year probably saved the school more money.

Yep. Only problem.........................college sports is not a "for profit" enterprise. It makes a profit but that's not why it's in existence. So, whether the team makes or loses money is irrelevant. All that's relevant is if the AD thinks that the investment in the sport is worth it and in the best interest of the university. Apparently, we've got our answer to that question with this hiring.

George, your credibility has made a slight improvement as I did enjoy the read.

Glad you keep up with the lady articles even if you don't approve of them.

It's alway great to find a supporter so financially concerned and adept to the university's spend. LSU's popularity as menioned is not predicated on profit, but perhaps national presence?

Now please find me some more lady articles ;) I can't understand why the softball team got 6000 in attendance with #1 Bama sweep and is playing so poorly vs vols.

George, the Men's BB final this year was the most pathetic thing I've seen in a while. Talking about missing layups. The combined score for both teams didn't even get to 100 if I remember correctly. In fact, I turned it off in the second quarter.

For all of you so called "LSU Fans" get over it. You would bitch if the football team lost the most money and the women's tiddley wink's team brought in the most revenue for the school. It's just about women's programs you can't stand.
U A Holes.

investing more money in the men's program will get a lot more "national presence" than women's ball

there are 2 sports that matter in college athletics

1. college football

2. college basketball (well below #1, mind you)

if we had a men's rowing team, i'd imagine the coach wouldn't be making almost 7 figures

We do have a men's (and women's) rowing team, and I'm pretty sure the coach's participation is 100% voluntary and uncompensated.

well, sounds like we do so maybe you should just enjoy our new bball coach as well? And exciting is certainly in the eyes of the beholder, as is beauty. There is plently excitement in the lady's winning teams and certainly post season play.

What's funny is that there are many unprofitable sports like track, rowing, volleyball, etc but wonder why the vast majority of university's have them?
