By the way, divisions make no sense in a college playoff era. Why in the world do the SEC East and the SEC West need to exist? I'd get the NCAA rule requiring divisions eliminated -- right now divisions are required to play a conference title game -- eliminate all divisions instead and take the top two teams from every conference.

I agree with that.

We could do something like the roommate switch. Each team gets 3 permanent opponents (ours would be A&M, Ole Miss and MSU) and travels to every opponent at least once every 4 years. Plus it has divisions (although not static) that satisfy the NCAA rule.

I didn't come up with it, but I think it would work very well. The only problem I see is that an even/odd schedule as described in the link wouldn't work with getting 4 home games every year, so instead, play the same teams for 2 years in a row, then switch.

If the teams in this scenario were reversed I would tend to agree with you. LSU just doesn't have the media bias to pull your scenario off. Bama however does. I'm glad that OM beat them. At least OM gave them a loss and LSU will make it two. Then Bama should be out.
