Why do some people deride somebody for following their dream?

It's not our place to call it "nonsense", "foolishness", or a "distraction". It's a person trying out for a roster spot on the football team. Put your own notions about how a person should live their lives aside. It's none of your business.

Can Mo Isom kick a 45+ yard FG without pressure? I mean, is her leg strong enough? If she can't do that without pressure, then I highly doubt she'll do it under pressure. I think she's just wasting her time.

Not sure how it equates but she can kick a soccer ball 75+ yards.

I heard her longest FG in practice was 50-51 yards, although that'd be solid in a game, practice you should be able to do better than that for a college kid on scholarship IMO

Well let's just hope there are no locker room rape allegations. I hate to see CLM's public response.

I don't care about field goals, Alleman has that job. The problem LSU has is kick off distance. Routinely they were short and with no hang time. That is why Hairston got the redshirt pulled. Put the best person out there. If she kicks the football through the endzone, then no need to worry about her tackling.

I don't think some of us are trying to deride her for following her dream. I think that if we recruit a 3 or 4 star kicker or have a great kicker or two already under scholarship, then why stir the pot and try to do something you've never done just because you have a wild hair. Honestly, she's a great person and a hell of a soccer player and I wish her a lot of luck in her tryout. I just think she may be wasting her time.

If she is the best I hope she makes the team. If she is not the best then I hope she doesn't make the team. It should be performance based and nothing else should come into play.

You people that don't want her on the team because she is female are just plain stupid.

That said I am pretty sure with the kickers we have on the team right now that she doesn't have a legitimate shot at ever kicking for LSU in a game.

But I hope she IS better than what we have and if so I look forward to seeing her kick the kickoffs out the back of the endzone or crushing 50 yard field goals.

regarless of gender!

That probably won't be an issue for any team this season.

Does LSU let the publicity stunt go and go

Maybe I missed some stories, but I haven't seen much press on this, except for on here and on SECR.

Personally, I don't have any problem with her trying out. Hold her to the same standard as the other position players.

If she makes team does that mean it counts as a title 9 women's sport too and we get to add another men's sport to balance out? :)

Honest question: How is it that a female can be allowed to try-out for a male sport, but a male cant try out for a female sport. For example, does this now open the door for a male to try out for the volleyball team since the school does not provide a mens team? I guess I just dont understand how the try-out can be allowed at all if its a mens sport.

You all are silly. Mo Isom is an incredible young person and a great leader for LSU. She is a tremendous athlete, gets good grades and has the respect of her fellow students. Moreover, the football players respect the hell out of her. She's not replacing Alleman but what's the big deal? If she can kick 40+ yarders with regularity, let her walk on. Is it a publicity stunt? I guess that's a fair characterization. But what is the stunt? That a girl who can kick can play football? That LSU is pretty cool place for women? LSU should promote the hell out of Mo.

Some of you all need to relax and enjoy what should be something that is fun.

Just curious. I have a hard time believing that a 140lb girl, as gifted as she is, can muster the same strength as your average 160-175lb kicker

I'm guessing at 6' with pretty thick legs she's probably 160-170...
