Right. So we let her on the team (if she can earn a spot), tell the t9 lesbians to get fricked and then we just do whatever the hell we want with our athletics program.

What you are showing is that a woman can play a men's sport
The argument being made is that men can't play a women's sport and yet a female can Play in a sport dedicated to men but a man can't go and play softball although there is no definition that says its a female only sport; that this isn't fair when it comes to scholarship and quota designation
The argument isn't that they can't or haven't played, it's that under the current system they shouldn't be able to

So are you an NCAA Title IX compliance officer? Do you have training in this that can back this up? Or is this just an opinion you are stating as fact when you really don't know?
I'm thinking the latter.
there is precedense in this. We aren't the first school, and this is a tryout, she is not on the team yet. Everyone chill the frick out.

This is not a good analagy. There is a substitute for softball...baseball. Or rather softball would be the substitute for baseball. There is no substitute for football. It is just football.
See my earlier comment about volleyball. There is men's volleyball other schools in the country, therefore a man at LSU should not be able to play for the women's team...if he wanted to play volleyball he should have gone somewhere else. I looked and don't see any rules saying football is for men only.

then you tell me in college i have to face pitchers that throw 90, from significantly farther away, with a small ball, longer base lines, bigger outfields, and different rules and techniques
Thats like saying racquetball is a replacement for tennis, because they both use rackets and balls

You're way off base. I dont have any problem with her trying out or being on the team.
My issue is with Title IX compliance. Thats how I read and interpreted what was posted and what was on the NCAAs website.
I just didnt understand how you can be in compliance one day, add a sport for females, and still be in compliance after that.
LSU/SEC was fighting with Title IX hard in the early 2000s to get soccer back as a scholly sport. I was invested in and did a lot of research back then. I know a little but was also asking for clarification.

The replacement sports don't have to be exact copies, a lot of schools use girls Volleyball to substitute Footbal

Their legalistic minds can't grasp this. I actually thought of couple of them really understood the intent and effects of Title IX. Not so sure, now.

Did you grow up a girl? No boy grows up playing softball. So your reaching really far trying to make a comparison that doesn't exist. Which is exactly my point, is there even a collegiate sport that women play that men don't also play?
Posted on 3/6/12 at 4:19 pm to Tiger1242
The replacement sports don't have to be anything like the sport they are replacing, it is just an offsetting thing to comply with scholarship numbers
I think the point trying to be made was there is no female version of football and yet softball is regarded as the female version of baseball....which is totally wrong. Women's baseball is the female version of baseball

I went back and read again...I see what you're saying.
I'm not sure but since she won't be getting a scholarship is this even really an issue? I don't know...Now we have Mascona talking about it on 104.5

So we aren't talking about NCAA anymore?

Based on circumstances, obviously the wrong interpretation. Is she gonna take a scholarship?

Is she even able to? Hypothetically assuming that she is better than any of our current kickers on scholarship.
