I don’t understand how they do it. Every fricking year they bring in legit MLB prospects on the mound. It boggles the mind
Luckily O'Sullivan does about equal to LSU with more talent. He will get one championship out of the bunch, but he will blow the rest.

That's a somewhat sarcastic post (before Lester Earl comes to tell me how dumb I am again).
Winning one championship would be great for them in the next three years. And UF could be hit hard with injuries, a hot team, or shitty luck the rest of the way.

The next couple years will probably see some of the most talented LSU teams ever assembled in terms of raw talent and upside, but there will be a hundred other programs that will be able to say the same.
Winning the national championship will be almost completely random and be roughly the equivalent of determining the MLB world champ after a 70 game season and playing a few three game series in the playoffs.

If I had to bet money right now on if Florida would win a natty in the next 3 years I would bet no.
And that’s nothing against O’Sullivan, although I don’t think he’s a particularly great coach, I would make that same bet for most teams in college baseball. You just can’t predict this game. The parity level is too high and that’s going to be even more exaggerated in the next 2-4 years.
We’re about to see some really good baseball and I’m so excited for it

Well, no shite. You should make that bet for all teams in college baseball. You have almost a 299 out of 300 chance of being correct.
Let's change the wording. If you had to bet on just one team to win one in the next three years, would Florida be that team? I'd go with a hard yes. They would be #1 on my list for sure.

I think you will see a cream rising to the top type of thing go on for the next 2-3 years. This next year in particular. Teams having expanded rosters will benefit the schools that put resources into baseball. The schools that don't will kind of get left behind (for at least a year). LSU, and a few others, will find a way to get these kids the scholarships they need. Some of the other schools, that don't have the finances, will not put that same effort into it. I think this year there will be a clear cut top tier.
Some of those roster effects will carry into the next two seasons as well, but when rosters go back to normal the following season you will see some of the loaded top tiers have to cut players, which will sprinkle them out back to the other schools.

I hope you’re right. They’ve have a few dud classes in 17 & 18 as far as position players, and the 19 class wasn’t overly impressive in the limited games we saw. Writing out the potential starting lineup this morning didn’t get me too excited. Beloso on paper is your best returning hitter? :/
Getting Crews & Drost to campus is huge. Hopefully that gets them going in the right direction.

Drost and Crews start in outfield?

Blake Money just tweeted geaux tigers

They very much could, with Gio in CF.
I have a gut feeling they move Doughty to the OF too.

I’m not any where close to being knowledgeable enough about current rosters to even think about making that bet.
I just really don’t see Sullivan getting it done. Maybe that’s my own bias against that a-hole but I don’t think he can do it again.

Beloso can rake but I think Doughty is going to be our best pure hitter. Mathis can definitely hit. Milazzo showed flashes in the limited games played.
But I think you’re partially right in that our pitching is going to have to carry the load. We’re not going to exactly be gorilla balling it

Who plays second? I think if anyone moves to the OF it’ll be Dugas or Bianco

The #1 ‘18 class has left a lot to be desired with Beloso almost being the lone man standing other than Gio and Garza.
The ‘19 class acquiring Hampton, Travinski, Doughty, Arnold, Milazzo...that’s a deep position group and you hope at least 3-4 are full time starters.
The ‘20 class figures to have some top of the line guys with Crews, Drost, Thompson.
If you get Beloso back for a year these guys have the potential to stick around together as a group for 2-3 years which will be big. I don’t think we’re going to see the team sacrificing offense just for a defender in years to come.
The recruiting class needs to hit on some elite arms in the ‘21 class to replenish depth but that’s a worry for another day.

I thought for sure that class would take us to Omaha at least twice

To be fair they were close in 19 and 20 was cancelled

I think cain is doing a better job recruiting then i wanted to give him credit for a year ago. I think with the past class and this class, we have enough hitting to be a good hitting team again. And oitch should be close to elite. We def will need to recruit and land a stud arm next year

Yeah the roster cap next year will keep a lot of top tier talent at the major programs and the trickle down impact will come the following year when it goes back into effect. At least that allows teams like LSU to get a good look at all of those players for a year, let the competition play out, and then make a more informed decision on the roster instead of having to cut guys loose now.
