Worth it how? Because it would be a fun experience? Best time of their lives?

Ell, if I had been blessed with the unbelievable skills of someone like Nola or Bregman, I wouldn't have walked away until I won a championship or ran out of eligibility.

Kyle Funkhouser at Louisville came back after getting drafted 35th overall and look what it got him. You lose all leverage towards bigger money. He's ranked around 60th overall heading into draft.
Louisville is stacked heading into supers, so a CWS crown for them would be worth it for him. Unfortunately LSU will ruin it for him.

That pretty much makes you an idiot. Neither of those players were guaranteed anything at LSU. But they were guaranteed millions. And a chance to keep doing what they love at a higher level. Players of that caliber and drive... Their competitive nature pushes them, not to stay where they are where they've already proven themselves, but to go on to tougher challenges. The exact opposite of what you're shortsightedness causes you to think.

Just looked him up - he's a huge reason why Louisville is 2 home wins away from Omaha. Kinda proves my point about the impact a guy can make by coming back.
Also, you would think

Would be more concerned with WINNING A CHAMPIONSHIP than making money a year sooner.

And if he doesn't win it all? He hasn't proven anything yet. UL would be there without him.
What he HAS proven is that he'll lose millions. He won't have any signing leverage. Whatever team drafts him will save a lot of money when they sign him way under slot.

If LSU wasn't in it i would be cheering for Louisville just to hear what he says when a reporter inevitably asks if he regrets his decision.

You think Nola or Bregman regret their decision?
You're acting like college is the best thing these guys will ever experience. Anyone who believes that is either too young or pretty pathetic to have maxed out at 22.

If we win it all this year, I wouldn't be surprised if some part of Bregs wishes he had stuck around to be a part of it.
Posted on 6/8/16 at 9:42 pm to TigersforEver
of course he would wish that! Who wouldn't?! Doesn't mean he would regret going early. There are 30 players at LSU who WISH they had his talent, money, and opportunity to play in the MLB this year.

I think Poche and Fraley are the only ones we lose.
Robertson is a really good college player, and I think he has leadership qualities that will lend itself well to next years team, which is something i think he will look forward too. Let him improve his defense, which will have to be his calling card at the next level.
People say he and Deichmann hate Maineri and wont be back, though.
Where do you think Newman and Reynolds are going? these are run of the mill relievers at the next level, at this point. I cant see them going anywhere

I can't wait for all the people who say Riley pint never wanted to come to lsu and just used us for leverage when he gets drafted top 10 tomorrow.

There are also guys like Blake Dean who just didn't like it in the pros. I just really admire people who stay and make the most of their time where they are, get their degree while they're in college for free, and don't get ahead of themselves for a payday.

I got lucky and happened to be in a wedding a few weeks ago in Kansas and ran into an MLB operations consultant who was brought in to a few teams since his kids go to school with Riley. Riley has a high number but he's 100% gone.

You want to bring up Blake Dean?
His sole reason for returning was to raise his draft stock. To prove to teams he could play a position. He had shoulder surgery that summer for that purpose hoping it would fix his arm.
Also, lots of these guys finish school during the fall/winter.

Wish I could take you up on that bet

I heard I could be a late round flyer in the Boxtard Draft though - Jumbotron appearances in the last 2, one with a possum playing air guitar. Don't know who will go #1 between Guillot and the K Lady but I hope at least one of them sticks around.
The guy making the bird noises, however, can move along.
