Mississippi State Defense - Fool's Gold

They're definitely going to be the best defense we're gonna face.. this week... end.

A shootout implies MSU will score a lot. I don’t believe that for a minute. 21 points, tops.

Ok......and we have 53 in the league, so what do you think we will show up with?

42-13 Lsu! 6 points in garbage time. Two field goals.. And a early game td for them! We will have 8 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, and a pick 6...

Exactly and La Tech doesn't have a real run game. They do pass a lot and that's one of their weaknesses but we have the ability to spread it out and get creative as well as run the ball. Canada will be on his A game in this one and will be out to prove to everyone that this offense is the real deal. The offensive personell will also want to prove who they really are. Etling ususally has a pretty good game when he's challenged and he knows how much work it takes to provide a quality game. He will be ready and watch out for Guice and company to be out to prove that they are stronger this year as well.

The OL is going to have to play the most physical game of the year so for. The only thing that worries me is if our OL isn't ready or prepared for a real physical game and we have penalties which kill drives. If we are prepared in these areas which I think they would be then LSU will be fine. I can't see LSU not being able to get pressure with all these pass rushing players we have. The middle of the defense will have to get much more physical than they have all year as well.

If those two portions of our team are ready for some physicality and invite it then LSU is going to kick some arse. The rest of the team will be more than ready IMO. State will not be ready for the quickness and how efficient we will be on offense in particular. I'm ready for this match up. Can't wait to see if LSU can actually turn the competitive dial up a few notches. If so it should be a great game for LSU. 34-16 Tigers.

State's best team ever, the Jackie Sherrill team that went to ATL in '98 lost to a poor LSU team 41-6.

That team was good, but State's '14 was also pretty good (and beat LSU decisively).
Regardless, the game Saturday will be determined by the players and coaches from each team, not the history between the two teams.

I'm just really concerned that we won't be able to run the ball on their 15 man front.

Listen. State was decent in 2014. What did they lose, 4 games? 3 games. Lsu fires coaches for that.

Also, they beat Lsu decisively in 2014? If that is the case, then Lsu beat state decisively in 2016. Both were single digits with the losing team a chance to win in the end.

I heard Brandon adams on sec live say Moo st has the better qb and better pass rusher. he went on to talk about how lsu hasn't played anyone and he's still skeptical about lsu. meanwhile, I guess state has a hellacious resume with victories over Charleston so and la tech. I hope people remain skeptical about us into January.

So what? Every team we play in the SEC should have these minimum qualifications to compete in the league (or some combination of it).

As a big LSU fan, it's hard for me to admit it, but yes, State beat LSU decisively in'14. True, Brandon Harris came in late to make the game closer, but for LSU fans the game never felt as close as the final score. State ran all over us. OTOH, our victory in '16 didn't feel decisive to LSU fans given how CLM took his foot off the pedal to let State back in the game. Admittedly, how you feel about the two games may be different from me. Sometimes the final score doesn't accurately reflect how the game really felt to the fans.
