Collins was rated the #1 LT coming out of highschool
He manhandled Clowney in an all star game.
Yet we are supposed to assume that what we saw out of Josh D is a much better option because Stud, Ensminger and Les have such good judgment.

I will say this though, having a true freshman starting at offensive line in the SEC is VERY rarely successful.
This is by no means a comprehensive list, but (all frosh)...
Ben Wilkerson did it in 2001. He earned Freshman All-SEC as we won an SEC Championship and the Sugar Bowl.
Michael Oher started all but one game for Ole Miss in 2005. Freshman All-SEC & Freshman All-American.
Antoine Caldwell started 12 games for Alabama in 2005. The first 11, he played guard, then made the transition to center for their bowl game. Freshman All-SEC & Freshman All-American.
Andre Smith started every game at left tackle for Alabama in 2006. Led the team in knockdowns. Freshman All-SEC & Freshman All-American.
Lee Ziemba started all 13 games for Auburn in 2007, earning Freshman All-SEC & Freshman All-American.
Maurkice Pouncey started 11 of 13 games for Florida in 2007. Freshman All-SEC.
Chaz Ramsey started 10 games at right guard for Auburn in 2007. Freshman All-SEC & Freshman All-American.
Clint Boling started 11 of 13 games for Georgia in 2007, while Trinton Sturdivant started every game at left tackle. Both were Freshman All-SEC & Freshman All-American. Georgia finished 11-2, Sugar Bowl Champions, #2 & #3 in the AP and Coaches Poll respectively.
Cordy Glenn & Ben Jones each started 10 games for Georgia in 2008 as true freshmen when Georgia wen 10-3 and finished ranked #10 in the coaches poll, #13 in AP. Both were Freshman All-SEC & Freshman All-American.
Xavier Nixon started 5 games and played in 10 for Florida in 2009 when they went 13-1. Freshman All-SEC.
Ja'Wuan James started every game at right tackle for Tennessee in 2010. Freshman All-SEC.
Reese Dismukes started all 13 games at center for Auburn last year. Freshman All-SEC. Named to 2012 Rimington Trophy Watch List.
Marcus Jackson started 5 games last year for Tennessee. Freshman All-SEC. First Team Freshman All-American by Phil Steele.
John Theus is Georgia's starting right tackle this year.

make that switch if/when it proves impossible to continue playing Josh D at LT.
If the auburn performance wasn't enough, I don't think anything will be.
This is a coach who left lee to drown in 2008
Same coach who stuck with Jefferson through Georgia 2011 and Alabama January 9th
He's stubborn. He feels like eventually it'll work, although a lot of times it ends up being too late or not at all.

this would be much easier if people would just realize this and expect it. Same with the play calling.

Yeah, I quit getting frustrated about miles decisions. I just try to enjoy the good things about the Lsu games.
I just hope Mett doesn't get killed from miles decision to keep big josh in the LT spot.

I've actually done this with the play calling. I'm resigned to the fact that we won't be consistently diverse and creative in an attempt to achieve balance as an offense.
We still have enough talent to just bludgeon most teams and if we are going to be more reliant upon one dimension I would much rather it be the running game.
The only way I can see the play calling being considerably upgraded is if we bring in a high profile offensive coordinator and give him some freedom. I'd prefer it be a guy with NFL experience that is focused on taking advantages of mismatches.

Corey Lemonier had 3 tackles, including his sacks. His only tackles for a loss were the sacks.
So Maximus and co., JD "sucks" but his guy made 3 tackles all game. What gives?

LSU is predictable on offense but has the horses to push everyone around except Alabama
The play calls are pretty easy to tell based on personnel packages
Ford in the backfield is not going to be a run up the middle. Most likely a pitch to the wide side.
Ware comes in for passing downs
Hilliard in the backfield is typically Toss dive or off right tackle.

Go back and rewatch it. Lemon pushed big josh around all game

Josh D looked really bad the first half. Couldn't stop Lemonier at all and didn't touch anybody on several plays where he had to get into the second level.
I really hope the coaches at least try Vadal out Saturday.

Makes you feel sick at your stomach doesn't it. We have heard and saw that attitude last year.

I wonder if Bama fans reacted this way after their line gave up 6 sacks to Western Kentucky last weekend.

giving up 4 sacks in 2 weeks is awesome now? Lemoiner couldnt get sacks 3-7 because LSU made sure a RB and/or TE was there to babysit for Josh D after his 2nd sack. Bragging about the 3 tackles is like bragging about riding your bike with training wheels on it.
14:16 2nd quarter - Josh D pretends he is in a walkthrough and down blocks on the invisible man. #90 Gabe Wright comes right off his shoulder and makes the tackle in the backfield.
The very next play, Mett unloads the pass to Wright immediately. If he held it for even 1 second longer the man that just ran right through Josh D. would have sacked him.
8:41 2nd quarter - Josh D pancakes the invisible man. Hilliard tackled for a loss inside the 5 yard line.
7:26 2nd - 3rd and 1. Lemoiner blows JD up in the backfield. Ford has to wait for Copeland to block Lemoiner since JD couldn't be bothered with all that. Ford tackled for no gain. LSU has to punt.
1:01 2nd qt- LSU driving inside AU territory after Ware's long run. 1st down. JD doesn't even offer Lemoiner any resistance en route to sacking Mettenberger.
14:07 3rd quarter - Josh D completely whiffs on Lemoiner. Ware is forced to waste 2 seconds juking him in the backfield and bounce outside. Ware tackled for a loss.
12:30 3rd - 3rd and 3. Josh D again destroys an invisible defensive lineman while letting real defensive linemen and linebackers free to tackle Ware for no gain.
At this point I'm fairly sure he's trying not to block anyone.
Josh D. overload for the night.

Solid post. I have nightmares imagining Josh D "protecting" Mett's blindsided from Clowney.

This
Does miles just ignore this?
Does he think he'll just get better all of a sudden?
Posted on 9/24/12 at 9:00 pm to mikeytig
AU d linemen looked like people rushing out of a burning building and Josh D was a firemen rushing in the opposite way past them all to save some people trapped way in the back of the building.
Posted on 9/24/12 at 9:01 pm to TheDoc
Miles said he only saw 2 plays where our tackles missed blocks.
Posted on 9/24/12 at 9:02 pm to Maximus
I refuse to believe miles, a former Michigan OL doesn't see how bad big josh is.
