Some of the most prolific passing attacks in school history have come under Miles. When he has a QB that he trusts we will sling it.
This was comment was more about the other posting trusting what Les Miles said in a press conference.

You let me know when we miss a bowl game before you act like we're at Mack levels of dumpster fire. One real down year (8 wins in a very strong division with a new QB is apparently a down year of epic proportions), and apparently we are on the level of missing bowl games?

Oh.
By the way, while I think Cauble had a somewhat valid question, most of these newspaper-TV hacks have a VERY inflated and overblown sense of their own self-importance.
In this day of the internet, you get more and faster "insider" information on message boards like this than what conventional media is able to give you.
These reporters think they are celebrities themselves because they have a job that gives them somewhat access to celebrities, and nothing could be further from the truth.

russell - didn't recruit
flynn - didn't recruit
mett - transferred from juco
so what QB has he recruited out of highschool that he's trusted to throw?
Great question. Jarrett Lee? He threw the ball a ton in 2008 and look where that got him. Les has been gun shy ever since.

but cannot fathom why Harris never saw another snap.
his ankle was hurt for a week or two, but after it healed up, he should have been out there again playing.

Mack missed a bowl in 2010. He made 3 straight bowls in 11, 12, and 13. In fact, the Alamo Bowls and one Holiday Bowl appearances are pretty comparable to the Chick Fila, Outback, and Music City Bowls

i'll remain skeptical that harris wins the job in the offseason.
i meant more of, you will see if they will let him sling it...i certainly will not guarantee it actually happening but this will be the tell tail year

we can thank Perriloux for this shite show situation. RP was the answer and would have been great, nobody saw it coming

No but he can hire a damn offensive coach who isn't his buddy, under 50, and use to working with QBs like Joe Flacco and Drew Beldsoe for goodness sake.
Uh, Cameron kind of turned Brees' career around before the injury

And Les has missed a bowl, never with us. We aren't at UT level. Sorry.

Lee was afraid of contact in 2008. he threw off his backfoot all the time. it was his bad habit that got him in the doghouse. but just because you have one QB like that doesn't mean they all will be.

oh I agree. 2008 changed les miles.

I just expect more training wheels. everything with the offense is s difficult. nothing comes easy.

Cauble is the dude that Miles wanted to throw something at during the presser yesterday

I agree... yet.
Les needs a home run with his DC hire, and next year he really can't afford another 5 loss season.
That's all I'm saying. So I agree with Cauble that this program needed some new life. Status quo hasn't been getting it done.
Posted on 1/15/15 at 11:21 am to monsterballads
if the training wheels don't come off this year, i will be on board with yall. i just think this past year was impossible to do that, we just didn't have the QB to do it.

He is just taking a stand for the program, coaches and players which he should.
But, it isn't just about 2014. we struggled throwing consistently with JJ from 2009-2011, lee didn't exactly make great strides as a passer, struggled to throw well enough with mett and those great receivers in 2012, struggled mightily last year throwing with jennings. it led to us having trouble getting the run game going early (in addition to new o-line coach and scheme) and then you get games like arkansas where we can't do anything.
les is used to relying on great defense and special teams. we haven't had a truly effective offense since 2007. yes, 2013 was a remarkably productive year for a change, but it was just 1 year, and a lot of those great plays through the air came on third and a mile from a rocket arm to two incredible receivers with a do-it-all back.
i dont want to see us shift to one of these HUNH up-tempo, wide open attacks. just open things up in terms of what we want to do. some singleback ace sets, more runs out of the pistol, the jet sweep motion and the read option stuff we got going at the end of the year was great. we don't have to confine ourselves to the i formation with 1 or 2 receivers running simple routes.
i remember when i used to think all we needed was a quarterback. we need one, and we need their coaches to put them and their teammates in better positions to succeed. hopefully there is a productive spring and fall and we improve markedly on that side the ball. we certainly have the rest of the pieces. if it's more of the same from 2014, then it's not going to be good.
everyone knows the LSU passing game is a joke. it's not just cauble. kudos to him for asking an actual question.

ive got to admit...after reading this and hearing Less in the presser yesterday...he is turning over a new leaf...you actually can understand what he is saying and comprehend everything

So you run it to run it even when you can't run it instead?
Yes. Running the ball, even when not successful, gives your defense time to rest and controls the time of possession. When you have an offense struggling the last thing you want to do is keep putting your defense out on the field with basically no time ran off.

We had no other choice, I think it is terrible we didnt but if you cant understand Les and his explanation I dont know what to say....you cant just throw it to throw it when you cant throw it.......
The calls are not the problem, the lack of a passing game is...they are just managing the game the best they can at that point.
