re: Miles on the recognized want to ameliorate LSU's passing aptitude

Miles said #LSU did some "off-season studies" on the passing game, with specifics to breaking down video of other teams' systems.

Miles: "Brought in film, cut it up and really did some good work on some opponents and some guys who throw the football really well."
This should really be a cause for concern for LSU fans.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with coaches continuing their development and education on the sport and learning from other coaches who are more fluent in certain areas of the game.
That's all well and good...until you consider the fact that Les Miles has been a major college football head coach for 15 years and makes $4 million/year. Cam Cameron has been an NFL HC and OC. And these guys have to go around taking notes on how other college football teams are able to throw the football so well?
It's downright sad and embarrassing really.

He has a very unhealthy obsession with Miles to the point that he deludes himself into thinking Miles is infallible.

its both humble and scary.

Its all well and good until Harris throws a pick, Les' butthole puckers up, and he decides to just run it and play safe.
There is no learning through mistakes with Les. Thus, no development.

... so you are telling me they didn't go visit anyone...????
I guess so much for all that.

It's not at all uncommon for coaches to visit other schools and glean tips, insights from them.

did you not read the rest of my post?
Cameron has been a college HC, an NFL HC, and an NFL OC. Other coaches should be going to HIM for tips and insights!

Eh. His job depends on winning games. It didn't get hot like last season until we started really losing, whether pass or run. Last couple of years of mediocrity coming to fruition.
But yea, it's kind of the necessary reaction, regardless of substance.

Not really. The new offenses have evolved and advanced so much that it has past right by Miles and Cam that they both need to catch up.

Not really. College coaches have been on the cutting edge of offenses for some time now. I'm glad we're at least hinting at a willingness to change things up and learn from other more efficient offenses. Obviously I'll reserve judgment until I see something on the field

I'm just so numb to his statements concerning the passing game at this point. I'm numb about any discourse surrounding the passing game. I'll believe it when I see it

This is the only correct answer.

Nick Saban did the same thing in 2013. I don't think too many people around the Bama program feel that way about it.
Idiot.
ETA: The only thing I care about is that Fournette and Guice combine for 8-10 receptions per game. That alone will improve the passing game and open up the run game.

I'm as frustrated with the passing woes as anyone but the responses in this thread are ridiculous. People whine that Miles won't practice or put emphasis on improving the pass game. He comes out and admits they are spending a ton of time practicing passing and people still complain.
This all day. The people who aren't gonna be convinced until they see it on the field are the first ones to jump in the thread and let everyone know. Probably the same assholes who said "LOL YEAH RIGHT JENNINGS IS MILES FAVORITE" when he called the QB job an open competition last spring.

All lies. We will live and die by the toss dive.

This applies to several people already in this thread and know who they are but won't admit it.

I know you're just a notch below Gray Tiger when it comes to being irrationally over protective of Miles, but I think Miles has done a great job since the bowl game. The great hires he has made, another great recruiting class. I give him credit when it's due and criticize when it's warranted.
That's the difference. I know you're blind to it.
