There was no play in for that last snap. T-bob improvised and decided to snap that ball.
So they sent in substitutions and didn't have a play called? bullshite!
Now is it possible that JJ didn't get the play? Yeah, I guess, but NO WAY they weren't trying to signal teh play into him. That is the reason he talked to the RB to tell him where to lineup and told him the play.
JJ knew what to run. But, again, why in teh frick would you turn your head after you asked for the snap?

a rationalization IMHO. JJ's eyes were definately not on the snap nor was he ready for it. if he had called for the snap, he would have been ready for it, it hit him in the hands. his eyes may have been on the clock, only JJ knows for sure and that's what he told his coach, but i seriously doubt that would have made any difference because he would have had to process that we only had about 2 sec's left and would have then had to call for the snap and it's very likely it would not have got off on time. no matter what defense bull shite we hear from players, coaches, etc. we were TOTALLY CONFUSED and not prepared for not scoring on JJ's run. the substitions at that point were the icing on the cake as that also confused ut. it would have been interesting to see what JJ, coaches and co. would have done if they had NOT made those substitutions and JJ was out there with no play being called. pure speculation but i say complete mental meltdown by JJ and we would not have got another snap. i say this not because of JJ but because our coaching staff has him on such a short lease that he IS NOT ALLOWED TO DO ANY THINKING ON THE FIELD. the coaches require him to get his play from the sideline and we all know how long that takes. we most definately need to put in a package for that situation; that is when we have no time outs and the game is on the line. the qb needs to be in charge and the team needs to know what plays are going to be run. my thoughts would be either a spike or a endzone pattern that the qb can throw it away if the wr is not open, thereby stopping the clock.

And, for the record, I hate JJ at qb.
But your "hero" T Bob totally blew his block and his man went untouched and JJ would NOT have gotten the pass off anyway!
TOTAL CLUSTERfrick! Starts and ends with Miles.

For the umpteenth time, Miles is an IDIOT!!!

Jefferson was not even lined up behind T-Bob.
He was staggered left, halfway over Dworazyck.
Yesterday on Finebaum, a couple of old SEC coaches were discussing the situation, and inadvertently gave T-Bob credit for snapping because he knew there were too many men on the field.
Yeah, that's why he threw his helmet off in disgust, and looked at the sideline the same way the fans, and every other person invested in the program did.
I was actually totally silent as the last events unfolded. I looked down the sideline for the players' reactions, and saw what I expected. Then, glanced over to Miles walking toward the middle of the field, waving Jefferson over. He had his entourage of troopers with him, and I thought to myself, he's going to need them.

Even after hearing Les "explain" what happened...I still do not understand what Les was thinking...

It has been reported by at least three different players that Miles only sent one play in.
If this is true, then it's evidence for the #1 problem with sending in JJ on 2nd & Goal to run the ball. You shouldn't send in a new QB unless they've got a MINIMUM of 2 plays to run out of the no huddle. Crowton's play calling from 2nd & Goal on is completely and totally inexcusable. Crowton/Miles were saved by two things and things only: T-Bob snapped the ball and Tennessee had 13 players on the field. Otherwise, we might have seen the first ever public execution in Tiger Stadium. As it was, a cheerleader was sent to the hospital.

Where did you get this quote from?

The clap is to let the center know the offense is set. He turned his head and said something to Ridley. T-Bob snaps in panic. One more second and JJ would have called for the ball. We would have got a free play off and another because of the penalty if needed.

Fail. He slapped his hands and about .2 seconds afterwards, he turned his head and looked about 45-60 degrees to his left, somewhere near the left tackle to recevier area. As his head was returning back to center, T-Bob snapped the ball.
Ridley was in back of him.
You need to look again and come back with a different apologetic theory.

This is what really pisses me off about Miles. Putting JJ in at that point made absolutely no fricking sense.

Its pretty easy to miss "his" block when you have 13 guys lined up on defense.

Ridley was directly to his right.
After re-watching this video, all of the blame falls on the coaching staff. While they are running guys onto the field with about 14 seconds left JJ is looking desperatly to the sideline to get some kind of play. The whole thing was just a terrible coaching frick-up imo.
BTW, that Tenn interference call looks a little suspect. No way that ball was catchable. JMO.

Wouldn't that fall completely on Jefferson?
quote:No. Ridley was a half yard ahead of Jefferson and to Jefferson's right.
Ridley was in back of him.

Um, ran the ball in for a TD - FROM 83 FREAKING YARDS OUT.

I'm of the belief that you reward players for doing well
That's why you are sitting behind your desk at your job, and Les Miles is a coach making nearly $4 million per year.
You put in the players that you think give you the best chance to win the ball game.

Now that is a bit of "re-framing" that I was not expecting to come out of his mouth. Now T-Bob is partially to blame because Tiger Stadium was so loud with LSU on the field that T-Bob could not hear/see him call for the snap? The film sure looks different in terms of whether JJ looked set and like he was calling for the snap, so I will rewind tivo and review it once again.
So. T-Bob was only a hero for snapping the ball because he failed to hear/see the call for the snap a couple of seconds earlier?
Wow.
None of this matches what has been said by the players.
This myth that Miles is a "good guy" is just that . . a myth. He threw Jefferson under the bus for his frick up at Ole Miss, and now he's throwing T-Bob under the bus for Tennessee.
