I think he is here as long as he wants to be. Whether it be next year in next five years or ten years. Because he has won that NC will get him through two tough years and then with the talent that he is able to recruit here in this state he will be here as long as he wants. Sorta reminds me of Charlie Mac. Wins just enough to keep him hanging on. LSU is not known as a NC school through history so with the mindset of the powers that be if he wins 11 to 12 games every 2 to 3 years and stays above 500 in the down years who is going to run him off? No one, especially if he happens to win an NC along the way.

If Les were to win another NC and keep winning 11 - 12 ball games a year within 5 years the NFL will come calling with major jack and he will be gone.

I agree. He really wanted the Michigan job, but he did the right thing.

Now I would've liked to have seen him "do the right thing" a week or two earlier than he did but that's easy for me to say and it worked out with some help from others in 2007.

I think if RR fails at Michigan the job is Les's if he manages a respectable couple of years here.

But I personally don't think RR will fail there and I think what Les does this year will go along way to deciding his future here.

He will coach here as long as he wants to. He has a NC and great recruiting to follow. He has the same opportunity Saban had: be a legend here or follow a legend and live in his shadow somewhere else.

Mile should be here for a long time. Only pieces of shite who constantly berate him and question his decisions would be reasons for him to leave.

Let's see if anyone would trade. Under Miles we have a national championship, each recruiting class has been top ten, and we are in the discussion every year except last year for the national championship and the SEC championship.

Guys, this is it. We are here. Don't mess it up.

This. I think if RR tanks this year, he may be gone sooner than later.

i like the pace rich started out with. let's just say he would have started 11-2 last year. then, went 8-5 this year. they would want his head on a platter. you see, because he started off like he did, now all he has to do to keep his job is go above .500 and he keeps it.

Miles is not going to Michigan. That window has closed. Not only do I think that Rodriguez will wind up being successful there, but I just really don't think MIchigan wants Miles. I wasn't convinced they did back then, and I still don't. He's in his mid 50s--that's not really the ideal time to take a job like that. And I think he's in the process of building a monster at LSU. It would be stupid of him to leave, anyway. I honestly believe LSU will be the last coaching job of his career.

The only thing you got right here is the part about mid-50's.

If Chavis doesn't work out, then I think Miles is gone. Because it shows that Miles doesn't have enough football acumen to keep LSU at the top.

Les recruits better than anyone we've ever had. He gets the players. The Crowton hire as OC was genius. The Malleveto was disaster.

Les is investing his future at LSU on Chavis.

I seriously doubt you have any knowledge on whether or not Michigan officials would offer Les a job should they have to terminate Rich Rod's employment.

We would have to have at least one losing season for LSU to tell Miles to hit the road.

We won 8 games with the monstrosity known as Malveto. I think we can win some games. Championships? That's a different question.

Had an interesting question posted at work today. Will Miles be the coach in 5 years and if not what will be his demise??

I believe Miles will be the coach in five years, but if hes not his demise was he won another national championship and Michigan came calling again and he took them up this time.

mark me down as another who thinks he goes back to Michigan in two years. Im the biggest Miles fan in the world, there's just something in the cadence of his voice that i love, and i hope he stays forever, but who could really fault the man for going home. if any of us were the head coach at UM and LSU came calling, what would we do?

miles will be there forever--when you win a title you get a pass for a long long time- plus his recruiting is still just incredible- so he is good now with winning seasons and pretty good bowls as a min now for 4 more years

If '09 is anything like '08, Miles will be history at LSU.

That is not to say we can't lose 4-5 games again. We might. If they're competitive games and injuries mount and so on that's one thing. But in lieu of those things, if we're falling behind early, struggling against the Troy's, getting blown out by UF, UGA, and OM, then that would be two years of demonstrating that Les isn't getting the job done anymore and it won't be because of talent.

On the other hand (and as I expect), our D will be much, much improved. Our O will be as good as ever and we won't lose more than two games.
