The bulk of the game planning (i.e. what plays will be put in as part of the game plan) will be done prior to the game with input and agreement from all offensive coaches.

What are these "plays" you speak of? I only see telegraph the hand off, run for your life or throw it in desperation. It would be great to see an aggressive, well thought out game plan and a QB that can check out of a play w/o looking to the sideline. I think it can happen.

During the spring game, we saw an occasion or two when Miles asked for a certain play, specifically one time on a goal line situation. It was only the spring game, and he had an agenda to evaluate players, but it still seemed like it could easily be typical of his manner in a game, and perhaps requests plays that are not in the flow of the gameplan. I know, I know, it was a goal line situation in this case.....

How can you thing BG has more authority than the Offensive Head Coach?...be real,..just because you might want him to, doesn't mean it will work that way.....

I don't think it's an authority thing. BG will read D and look for weakness from booth and likely "recommend" a play to attack with or make O corrections.
GC will likely get the play/adjustment to the huddle and still look authorative.
You want your best strategist up top seeing all because often a DB or LB out of position just a yard or 2 that makes all the difference.

.

I have a hard time believing that Gonzales moved his family, came to LSU and left his long time buddy Urban for a lateral position and a few extra bucks. He was on the Utah staff with Urban when they routed GC and BYU and he can hardly think that working for GC was an upgrade.

* November 20, 2004– Salt Lake City:

“BCS Busters”

The Utes (10–0, 6–0) were ranked #6 in the Coaches' Poll, #5 in the AP, and on the verge of being guaranteed the first-ever BCS bowl berth for a non-BCS team. The Cougars (5–5, 4–2) kept pace with the Utes through the first half, and twice intercepted passes from Alex Smith (who had been intercepted only two times in the ten games prior). The Utes outscored the Cougars 31–7 in the second half to secure the win, and sombrero-clad fans (expecting a Fiesta Bowl invitation) rushed the field as time expired. This was both Gary Crowton's and Urban Meyer's final regular season game as head coach of their respective programs.

Utah 52, BYU 21

-------------------
There is some kind of an agenda going on and I doubt it involves giving more rope to the guy who led the #112 offense last year.
