I agree with that man. I am honestly not trying to make people think the way I do. Just discussing how IMO there are better ways to discuss football with other fans then personal attacks on each other and the coaches when there is a difference in opinion.

i'm not personally attacking him. anything i've ever said about him has been football related. Just because I don't think he should be LSU's football coach doesn't mean I don't think he's a good man. I believe he's a honest guy who generally cares about his players.

ok cool. enough of this for one night. good discussion. i'm sure many more are to come.

I gotta give it up to Choctaw for his fighting spirit
Miles has his work cut out for him, he knows it.

correction.. 17 - 9. still not gonna cut it.

What do you mean? I'd be highly surprised if he's ever cut loose without ever having a losing season or a couple of .500 seasons in a row.

I'm forced to agree with you bout the right direction and we can only hope that direction continues into 10.
You bet. The product on the field was so stellar the last two seasons it defies description. I have even retroactively named both of my daughters LES based upon this awesome ability to bring the best out of mediocre talent and put some of the best offensenses/defenses in the nation. I even changed my dogs name, Nick to Les. It is overwhelming. I would put Les above Bud Wilkinson IMO, wouldn't you Lonnie?

I read many other team's message boards and I am sure other boards probably patrol the comments more but I have yet to find another team's board with the constant bashing of coaches by calling them retards and whatever else people say on here.
THis message board is different in that dissenting comments are allowed. Most boards, they are not. LSU fans are no different than any other school. I have friends of varying schools and they are exactly the same. Les Miles will be judged similarly to John Cooper, formerly of Ohio State after this season if he doesn't beat UF or Bama, hell....even Ole Miss. If he does beat those teams, most criticism will cease.
Its that simple. Its not the fans, chief. Its the results.

Does anyone else on that list have the same fiasco at Ole Miss?
No, but a coach on that list lost to UAB at home (*Hint, Tiger Stadium), lost 31-0 to Bama at home (*Hint in 2002), AND lost the last game he coached for a school by giving up a TD pass to a kid who had not caught a TD pass all year (*Hint, against Iowa). At his current school, this same coach lost to UL-M.
I don't know if any of that is as bad as LSU-Ole Miss in 2009, but it's pretty bad for a coach considered by some on this board as the GOAT.

Saban has his qualities but has his down side as well. Some people forget that. He tends to underperform in games he shouldn't and gets way too conservative when his teams get the lead. That said, I think he has adapted and changed well. Miles deserves the same leeway.
Its up to Miles. Not the fans. Losing to UF, Bama and Ole Miss three straight seasons will probably seal his fate. Fans don't have anything to do with that.

Is there such a thing as a MILESAHOLIC?
Posted on 2/26/10 at 6:18 am to Crow Pie
[Saban has gone unbeaten in the regular season twice in 3 yrs., think about that. and the Tigers are about fill in 13 spots on both sides of the ball, while most of Bama's key players are back, so what does that say?]
It says Mike Shula was one helleva recruiter.
saban lost 3 or more games in 4 out of 5 years while at LSU.

I think that was my point to begin with, so how stupid are you? hint- opposite of a little!

No...it doesn't. But do you blame the President for everything thats wrong? Or do Congress (asst coaches) and the citizens (the players) deserve some of that blame too?
Posted on 2/26/10 at 11:14 am to Choctaw
ultimately though the bill stops at the man at the top. miles runs the program. he is responsible for the coaches and players actions. if something goes wrong with them, it is his responsibility to rectify the situation.
i don't really know if throwing congress into the analogy is fair, because some of those guys are opposition. maybe change it to cabinet?

quote:No. He's after Nutt and before Chizik. Maybe #6 or #7.
is he the 2nd best coach on that list?
Posted on 2/26/10 at 12:56 pm to Ace Midnight
quote:Saban hasn't lost a game in two years. Miles has lost 9 games. That's the crux of the argument. It isn't about mistakes Saban made 8 years ago or National Championships Miles won 3 years ago. The results are what they are, what we have seen in the recent past. It's the trend that's your friend. Stats are for stat whores and past history is for nostalgic dreamers.
